Vintage Christmas

Many of the shoes are from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They offer a series of shoes from their collection every year. Some are from Just the Right Shoe, and others have been purchased wherever I've found thm. I have a boot, some ice skates and some other fun pieces. I also have some minature handbags, hats hangers and other "fashion" stuff. Several years ago I decorated and donated a 3' "fashion" tree to a fund-raiser for our art museum. I just tried to find a picture of it but it's not on my computer.

Karin, your baubles are just like the ones my mum has from years back. I remember them growing up. They're so pretty.

I love seeing the decorations. I'm a bit of a humbug this year, as I will be alone, so I have nothing to show. However I'll share the annual shot I get from my brother in California. His tree is actually smaller this year - but I can make out some ornaments from my youth on it - so they are definitely vintage.

For the past three years I only managed to get a (live) tree in place, but never got a single thing on them.

In January of this year, my husband's bachelor uncle died and my mother-in-law gave us from his estate (among other things) his 1960s aluminum Christmas tree, blue ornaments, and the original color wheel. My house is about as far removed in style from an aluminum Christmas tree as you can get (is there a house left that is compatible?), but I saw a solution to my inability to decorate a big tree...and I rather liked it. Oh, and I am amused to note that when it sheds a 'needle,' the needle hits the floor with a small metallic clink.
 
No tree this year - just the two of us, so we are going small.

But I did get out a few of the old ornaments for the buffet:
