Found two vintage costumes while on my trip this past weekend. They both have a label inside that says..."Barnes Costume Company, Davenport, Iowa." Have done a search on Barnes and cannot find anything so don't know when they were in business. Here are the dresses. Would they be Edwardian inspired? They are both very well made and allow for alterations. Right now they are rather short. <p> The first one is a yellow and pink brocade type material..rather heavy but has a nice feel.<br><br><img src=http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/magnolia3/yelcostume7.jpg><br><br><img src=http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/magnolia3/yelcostume8.jpg><br><br><img src=http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/magnolia3/yelcostume9.jpg><br><br><img src=http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/magnolia3/yelcostume10.jpg><br><br><img src=http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/magnolia3/yelcostume11.jpg><br><br><img src=http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/magnolia3/yelcostume13.jpg><br><br><img src=http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/magnolia3/yelcostume2.jpg><br><br><img src=http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/magnolia3/yelcostume5.jpg><br><br><img src=http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/magnolia3/yelcostume6.jpg><br><br>The second one is a black and white stripe taffeta type material.<br><br><img src=http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/magnolia3/blkstripecostume.jpg><br><br><img src=http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/magnolia3/blkstripecostume7.jpg><br><br><img src=http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/magnolia3/blkstripecostume8.jpg><br><br><img src=http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/magnolia3/blkstripecostume9.jpg><br><br><img src=http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/magnolia3/blkstripecostumegal.jpg><br><br>Anybody got any ideas on these dresses, descriptive words, age, etc.<p>TIA

Wow, I really like the fabric of the first one. The trim decoration says partydress to me. Edwardian? I'm not sure but I don't think so, of course I have been known to be wrong

The second one reminds me of a western school marm, your manni's hair and the lace collar with black ribbon gives it just the right look.

Sorry for the lack of description help:)

I also don't think Edwardian.

Very pretty, and like Kat, I really like the fabric on the first one. These remind me of a fancy dress that 'ma' on "Little
House on the Prairie" would wear.

Sorry, I can't be more helpful!
