Vintage Fur Purse & Matching Hat Set

I inherited this from my mom. The label identifies it as Pelta Furs in Los Angeles. I have no idea what kind of fur this is. Can anyone help?

It's an underfur (fur with the guard hairs removed) - beaver or seal but its hard to tell without handling.
