In 2018, what woman doesn’t own a pair of jeans or a suit? But there’s nothing new about women wearing menswear-inspired clothing. With such icons as Coco Chanel, Katharine Hepburn, Marlene Dietrich, Diane Keaton, Bianca Jagger, and Grace Jones, we have plenty of vintage inspiration!
Menswear-influenced fashion has gripped the runway for years, and you can get the look in vintage made-for-women tailored suits, feminized fedoras, clothes with military swagger, button-down shirts, jeans, loafers, plaid shirts, sculptured shoulders, trench coats, briefcases, foulard scarves…the list goes on. Houndstooth, pinstripes, and district checks are suitable, of course.
You can also literally borrow from the boys with actual vintage menswear that would work for a woman. After all, if the shoe fits...
