Hi VF - I'm a vinyl record lover and hunt thrift stores for records, but this was behind the counter and it caught my eye. It's approximately 8 x 10 x 2, magnetic clasp closure, tan piping, inside zip pocket. It's made of vinyl (no not the record kind), white with pink diamond shapes into blue rectangle and purple. It's a really cool looking bag. I want to give it to my wife for her b day on July 2nd, but was curious to find out any provenance on it. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. I totally get the authentication factor. I was just looking to get an idea about when it was and and honestly, if it was real. I suspect it is. What makes you think it's a newer bag and how new? TY - Michael
I am no expert in Vuitton - it's not the kind of bag I would personally carry. I just know what I see and what people wo are interested tell me. Like I said, we can't tell you if it was realy. From what I know those colorful, non-classic designs are fairly modern. I just read that it's 20 years since Takashi Murakami did those colorufl new takes on the classic LV designs. I don't know if your bag is a Murakami design or based on one of those, but I would venture to say that your bag dates from somewhere within those last 20 years.

I am not sure about the date code being on the magnet.
I'm thinking there are tell tale signs that it probably is fake. Someone that knows a bit about LV asked if the leather handles were of different shades (colors) from the outside to the inside, and yes, they are. Also, the stitching looks kind of suspect. That's okay either way. I didn't pay a lot, the money went to a thrift shop that helps the community that it's in and my wife digs it. I'm debating if I should let the thrift store know it's a fake? If it was reasonably priced, it's possible the thrift store knew it was likely fake. My local thrift used to re-sell donated fake purses but they stopped.
