Washing and improving stains on Edwardian dress

Just to correct a couple of errors in Linda123's post: Bugs do eat cotton - carpet beatles are the worst offender, but silverfish will also snack, and rodents chew it to make bedding. Also, chlorine bleach does not remove rust - the dots of 'rust' are foxing not rust, and bleach is harmful to cotton and should only be used as an absolute last resort. It isn't used in museum conservation at all, other than to clean and disinfect sinks and counters.
 
I replied above to a post from someone named "Linda" concerning her recommending that a strong solutions of bleach was the best way to treat stains on that antique lawn dress.

I see her post has been removed? So my comments above might not make sense, but they were a reply to "Linda".

I do see a comment or 2 that she was rude on the Forums. Hmmmm.
