or something like that. This R & K Originals 50s dress, was one that I'd always admired, when my friend Pam wore it in the 80s. It saw lots of fun times!

Pam passed it on the Judy, and last week, Judy gave it to me!
The dry cleaners did a fairly good job with the slight pit staining, of the ribbon-laced trim, though their replacement of the (metal) zipper application, although not bad, wasn't that good either, if you know what I mean. Still functional though, and the textile is strong and wonderful. Guess I'll keep it!

Adorable dress, Julie - you should definitely keep it. It reminds me a little bit of this one - purchased at the Vintage Fashion Expo in SF in March. No label but same era and similar trim.

Thanks, Maggie! I really love 50's era R & K, and 40's too, of course. It was put together for the long haul, and I admire that kind of honest quality, in a good old vintage dress.

Eileen, thank you, and what a story. I can relate; I'm always recycling the clothing, and things do happen like that. Your 'boomerang' sweater story, was rather amazing!

Linn, oh my gosh, yes, the similarity of the trim, and overall design is remarkable. Yours was higher end to begin with, I would think. But who knows, maybe another R & K?

Such a cute story, Eileen! In Hawaii, the Hawaii Opera Theatre has an event every other year called "Act II". It a sale of gently used designer and other clothing. I have not only donated a number of pieces but have purchased there as well- even found some vintage. One of the first years that we had the event one of my friends donated a gown that no longer fit her and the purchaser - one of the models - (we had a fashion show first back then) wore it to the Opera Ball. One of my friends wore a St. John suit I donated to a Board Meeting! It's "like déja vu - all over again!"

Sorry I'm late with this - no internet access ALL DAY!!! Ugh! Anyway, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this dress. The shape really suits you and the colours are perfect for you too. It's meant to be yours. Nice one! :)

Enablers! Thank you; I have to keep it for awhile, at least. It's got the look I love, let's face it. Thanks, Gayle and Lei.

It's "like déja vu - all over again!" Linn, you said it! I like when things stay familiar, so why not the wardrobes, around town?

Hope you're feeling better by now Mary, and thank you. Glad you like it.

Karin, what a neat blog, and I like the story of your jeans! I have similar meditations over articles of clothing, quite often, actually.

Louise, you must have been frothing at the mouth, with no internet access. I know I wouldhave been, anyway. Just kidding. Glad you're back on. Thank you! Good old R &K.
