What in the world is this label?

I've had this gorgeous and absolutely wild lightweight black silk faille/pink silk satin/ermine and tassel "cape" for quite some time. I think it's an Edwardian academic robe, but as I can only go by the textile and construction in this case, I'm a little bit up a creek! Does anyone know of this label at all (I know it's tough to read, I've been trying to no avail) or what this construction/color scheme represents? To the best of my knowledge, it's a Cambridge/Oxford-style Master's degree academic full hood. I'd love to know anything about it!

I can't read the label at all (sorry) but it looks like an academic robe that has been upcycled into a Medieval style costume, perhaps for a royal character (ermine).

If someone knows more I'd love to know! It's an odd creature.

This is just a wild guess, but the label appears to me to say Paquet. I found some Paquet companies (primarily in Canada) that deal/dealt in apparel.

It looks like the graduation costume from a production of Legally blonde to me!

Lynne is right, if you look at the label as a thumbnail (not open) it does appear to say Paquet.

Yes I agree it is an academic gown, or a modified one. I couldn't say how old, as they haven't changed for centuries. They are based on medieval styles, and some colleges do incorporate ermine for certain types of academics.

Their website appears to be down at the moment but it's worth seeing if it is back up another time. They had a huge resource on academic dress, including a digitalised newspaper called Hoodata which ran in the 70s and 80s.

In the meanwhile, you can browse google's cached images of their pages. (copy the page link, enter into google, click the green down arrow for cached) and so on for anything you want to view.

You can even complete a fellowship on academic dress with the Burgon Society!

I checked the international lists of robe makers and didn't find Paquet, but being a british website it has the most British companies listed, and it may only list those makers still in business.
