Great wicker handbag...but what is the faux tortoiseshell material...lucite, hard plastic???

Looks like lucite to me, but there are some plastics experts here who can probably tell you with just a glance.

Very cute & very now. Kate Spade & even more pricey designers have woven wicker this year.

Me too....I collect woven bags, particularly the Made in British Hong Kong ones. Today, I carried a vintage NOS white with brown leather trim woven and wore vintage (also NOS) white w/brown trim spectators to church. Oh, and wore a dress, too - ;)...slightly off-white with a chiffon duster of brown leopard print.
