What is your pride and joy?

Taking a break from playing with the new granddaughter to post her great-grandma's nightgown. My Mom was quite the clothing "gourmet" and I think this is lovely.

Made in France, late 20's or very early 30's. Silk georgette, machine applique with an almost "Tiffany" feel and tiny pleats falling from the tip of each wisteria. So fragile that photographing was the only means of "preservation." <BR><img src="http://members.aol.com/dancingdresses/images/kauf-fr3-1.jpg"><BR><img src="http://members.aol.com/dancingdresses/images/kauf-frdet1-1.jpg"><BR>C.
(who's hoping this is entered correctly. Yikes! There's no "preview" button!)

My pride and joy? My collection of Ceil's I suppose - here's one - but I find it hard to pick my favourite (and why can everybody crop better than me? - I've cropped the poor mannies leg)

Please excuse the wrinkles. Didn't have time to both press the wrinkles out and snap a pic of Esmeralda wearing my best vintage dress...

I've had this dress for about eight years now - from my aunt's estate. It's my favorite novelty print. Yep, those are chariots. Can't help but think the print was inspired by one of my fave movies - Ben Hur.

And I surmise that many of the board regulars will be able to identify the well known American designer of this dress...

Carol

Carol, that's as cute a novelty print as I've seen lately. No wonder you love it. But I haven,t a clue as to who designed it. The colors and style hint at Tina Leser, but I don't know if she did prints like this.

Lizzie

I was thinking Tina Leser too...but honestly do not have a clue...I love novelty prints and this is lovely!

Sue:)

That is the most un-Shaheen Shaheen I have ever seen!

What a neat piece!

Have you written Camille to ask about it?

Sue

Leigh, did I read somewhere that you have over 600 lucite handbags in your collection?

These ones that you posted are fabulous.....and I bet you just grabbed the first ones you came upon right?

Sue

Okay, I'm suing for some of the bags, based upon injuries sustained falling out of my chair looking at them. :)

Steph

Yes, it's somewhere in the 600 range. I haven't cataloged them recently, so I'm not sure of the exact number since I buy and sell them regularly. I usually have about 100 on display in the house at any given time. can you say obsessed?
