What kind of dress is this??

    Please bear with me with my posts. I'm sorting out my clothes and had a few questions on some of them.

    Can anybody advise me as to what type of dress this is and when it is from? There is an apron (1st photo). It's not a dirndl and appears to be handmade. Thanks!

    this one looks like a costume. there were/are lots of patterns to home sew this sort of dress, many of them around the bi-centennial (1976) as there were lots of parades and events celebrating that, with people dressing up in "period" costuming.

    It kind of reminds me of Barbie doll dresses from the 70s :). And it could well be one that was made for the bi-centennial.

    Thank you :) I decided to do a search of these dresses and I found a pattern which looks just like the one I have! I just had to turn the "apron" around to the front!
