Whiting and Davis vintage gold mesh bag

I found this with a lot of antiques and non antiques when I cleaned my fathers house, after he passed. I am looking for any information on this bag and possibly its worth. Never seen it before and am seriously interested in getting rid of it.

Hopefully, someone will come along that can be more specific based on the tag on yours, but here is a 1939 ad stating that the gate-top style is new. Keep in mind that W&D made some styles for many years.
