Who is LOUIS GOLDSTEIN? (cute suit)

I got this in my pre-hurricane buying frenzy. I guarantee i will have more questions.

I just love this. buttery yellow wool suit. short sleeved dress underneath with two pleats in the front that kick it out.

I googled, but could find nothing on Louis Goldstein. Well, at least not a Louis Goldstein that had been a designer, boutique, or manufacturer in fashion. the label was in an odd area...under one of the armholes inside the jacket.
Nothing in the label resource....yet...until i add this label to the thread and hope that someone would have heard about good old Louis.

Oh that is cute! Chris, I also googled and tried a couple of other search engines and came up with several Louis Goldsteins but none involved with
fashion.

Hopefully someone else will have some info.

thanks Sue. i was thrilled to find it. I also thought the length of the jacket is perfect for the looks that are in the magazines...wearing the cute cropped or boxey jackets over a casual dress or jeans. it's not tweed like all of them are showing, but i think the yellow really brightens things up. For people who are more into color, its a way to do the luck in your own way. I am going to take the dress outside in better light too because it is detailed a lot nicer than have seen in this idea...where the dress is meant to wear underneath the jacket but the details actually really stand out on their own.

maybe someone from or who has lived in NY at that time would remember it. maybe i have to do some more active sleuthing and look for sites about NY dept stores or designers of that period in general and ask there if they know the name, but haven't found anything like that yet.

the one other thing i did think of for some of these labels that say New York or LA, etc....maybe the internet archives of the local newspapers. someone was bound to have done a human interest article about the history of a neighborhood, or what stores used to be there back in the day...I remember someone getting a lot of info about a cleaners they had wood hangers from that way.

well...the search continues....
