Wow! I love this board. So much knowledge! But I would never have gone there. I was thinking along the lines of roman, greek arabian prince??? Is there a particular role that Vaslav Nijinsky played where he was in a similar costume or what makes you say Nijinsky because I am really not familiar with him.
Okay...getting closer I think in that I can see possibly ancient Egyptian - possibly prince. But it is definitely a guy and Aida was a Ethiopian Princess.
I am really, I guess, looking to identify the origin of the costume more than a individual person. I honestly don't know ancient greek from roman from egyptian. But I am leaning toward Egypt. Maybe it's because my mom was born there (but then again my siblings were born in Ethiopia)
Yes, that man-skirt he's wearing looks like something Yul Brynner might have sported in the "Ten Commandments" (and the phallic necklace would have been right in place, too!)
