Wonderful 1930s deco manikin. But how do you use it?

Thank you both, BV and msgrossmyer, for you excellent information.
I am so glad to see the drawing and maybe she can now have a purpose with all the good suggestions by all.
patentleathershoes, she Would make a great clothing rack if I had another.

When I get around to using her I will post a photo.
I just need to decide which suggestion to use!

I was not able to access any images or info at the USPTO though.

Miss Woodiken says thanks as she can now come out of the garage. :hiya:

It is a wealth of information and I completely forgot about software so thanks for the reminder Linn. Not sure when I might have remembered! ;)

Sure most of you know but at same website you can research trademarks which can also prove invaluable. There are some tricks to searching sometimes but again, so worth the time.

:duh2:Oh
Ms, msgrossmyer.. I wasn't upset... I thought that the website was evident in the schema picture I posted, then I followed my link... but I must have cropped that info.
THANK YOU:adore: for the backup!!

I didn't read all from above so excuse me if I missed something. I also have a woodikin with the original label on the back of her. Mine has the arms but is missing a finger.

The hole in the stomach is where a bolt comes up through the bottom piece with a wingnut holding it in place. The wingnut nestles in the hole.

I'm in Florida right now but when I get home I'll take a pic of mine and show you the hardware. It would be easy to redo I would think. When I had my shops I always displayed flapper dresses on her since they didn't require any shape.

I remember them being called flat mannequins. Very cool that others here have them also.

I have had this deco lady for quite some time. She is a genuine 30s flat model.
But, I have never figured out how to use her.
And why does she have a hole in the middle?
Unfortunately, she came to me without her arms.

I love her face and "molded" hair.

She is, indeed, a Woodikin, a really early one. THE HOLE is where she fastened together. Mine has wooden dowels at the waist AND a metal screw that fastens with a flesh coloured wing nut. Mystery solved!

Vintage yardage or vintage aprons? According the the patent office drawing that was linked here, you must have one of the original, 1932 versions! I guess that Mr. Segall eventually added some curves. Mine is going to my gallery show, in March, and people can have their photos taken with her. I call her my Kitchen Amazon, as she lives in my kitchen, and wears a red boa! Can't believe how tall these are...her waist comes even with my boobs! (Of course, I am only 5'2"...but STILL...she is 59-60".) Thanks, everyone, for giving me so much information on her!
