*YaY* I found one! Boo, it\'s not my size! Arabian Nights...

I have been dreaming of this since it was last posted by another seller awhile back and almost had a heart attack when I found it last week BUT it's not my size!

How depressing:no: !!!!!!! So up for auction it goes :(

I didn't even realize I'm not linked up!

I will try and figure that out now :) This skirt is scheduled to go on tonight. I wish it fit. :censored2: That's ok though, I know they made this print with a pink background. Hopefully I can someday find that one!

I *do* collect this print (although in the face of nuclear bidding, my 'collecting' has been limited to one purchase from Ruby Lane so far).

And it is (give or take a belt cinch) my size!

It was done by a particular artist with quite a recognizable style (or at least very well focused team of artists) to whom I'd attribute a few of these ethnological or 'destination' themed prints for the Millworth Converting Co., a company that later got subsumed under the Cranston Printing works, as far as I can tell. Although whether the archives went with them, i don't know. I don't yet know any further details of the artist or design production process.

I imagine this one'll go high too.

btw, 'Casbah' is the official name printed on the selvage and 'Casbah Fantasy' is the Lana Lobell catalogue marketing of the same print.

Each new version I see has a different colourway: black bg and atomic pink, grey bg and atomic teal 'n' orange (mine), brown bg and dark red and amber, and of course the pink in the ad. This one's a lovely set of shades - very authentically desert-y and 'Garden of Allah'!

It must have been a popular fabric, as several versions have seemed to me to be homemade, including mine, which has an early, brassy zip.

I want to do a webpage on this design, so whoever gets the skirt, if you could consider saving a detail shot I'd be really grateful Tiffany!

dreaming of more print skirts...

Oooooh atomic pink! *drool* The atomic teal and orange sounds yummy too. Lucky dog!! Thank you for all the info on this. I can't wait to see the web page that you are doing. How fun! It must have been very popular at the time. I personally love it! I really love the 50's atomic squiggly design on the roof of one of the temples. It is so out of place with the Morrocon vibe yet so perfectly 50's.

I love funky noveltyesque print skirts. They are so much fun and always make me smile.

I'll definitely save any pic you would like for your page :)

<i>I really love the 50's atomic squiggly design on the roof of one of the temples.</i>

*Exactly!!* I know exactly what you're talking about and I'd thought it was cool too! I was going to do a little close-up detail and a facetious 'Islamic or Atomic?' caption.

I haven't worked out, beyond the obvious comments, what I'm going to do for this print, but I definitely want to try and show the different colours.

I'm going to have it linked as one of the display pages to this, currently extremely rudimentary, feature.

Need to have more time to work on this, it should have orange tape around it at the moment:

Thanks so much for the provisional permission, though - I'll note down a couple of the really good ones in the auction, perhaps, and see if my comp will save them properly.

I almost wore my skirt to a restaurant called 'Souk' the other week - it would have been such an overwhelming convergence that the hookahs might have exploded... Alas, I wasn't able to go at the last minute.

Woo-HOOO!!!

Doing the snipe-smackdown victory dance!!

Unfortunately for Tiff, I didn't feel wealthy enough at the moment to fix a proxy bid early, but a few people recognized quality when they saw it: there was quite a little competition, and it went right to my upper limit.

But most importantly.

I BEAT Rubysohony to this one!!

Luckily for me she's lowered her snipe levels lately - Chris can testify to this!

Ahh, expanding my Orientalist's Wardrobe....

:D:D:D:D

YAY!!!!!

HOOORAY FOR LIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (AND YOU TOO TIFF, you rich lady!!!!!!!!!)

I love that. I had a Casbah skirt a couple of years ago, and I loved it.

Unfortunatelt, I saw myself from the back end on our video from Disneyland. Apparently it was not a small world after all. Sold all my full scenic skirts right before the look became current.
