YSL Yves St Laurent Vintage Shoe Help

My wife was given these shoes about 30 years ago. I cannot find any info on the significance medallion insert or any other info. Any help would be appreciated.

Both the long pointy toe/heel combination and the yellow exotic skin I have seen in the very late 1990's-early 2000's.

 

I agree with Melanie: that distinctive heel and toe was popular in the very early 2000s.

 

I questioned my wife again, she agrees that it was probably about 20, not 30, ago that she was given the shoes. Her ex sister-in-law was a designer for YSL at the time.

I still cannot find any info on the significance of the medallion insert. I have not seen it on any other YSL shoes.

 

I wonder perhaps if they were a sample or first of run, given that she was designing them.
