Very baggy trousers with cuffed bottoms, a la Jeremy Irons in Brideshead Revisited (if I remember rightly?)
I'd assumed 50s (but on what basis I don't know!) myself, as the clasp looked original and of the time. Now I keep looking closely at it and want to keep it again.. drat!
So very helpful, thank you! :)
Definitely a plastic of some sort, very light. I smelt them but I have a cold so that's not really helping :BAGUSE:
Here's another few pictures - the rhinestone flower is the clasp. It's not very long, would sit on your collar bone. Sorry they aren't the...
Thank you both! Yes Carrie, it is indeed a C-clasp: here's the back view (thumbnail again)
I think it's gilt rather than gold (not all that heavy now I think about it). That's really interesting Lorinda, I simply don't deal in jewellery as a rule so good to know!
In the hatband, also woven in is the makers name(?) 'Scotts Classic'. Pretty certain it's British, but could be wrong. This emblem is bugging me as it is very familiar! Anyone else recognise it?

Thank you!!
I think this is gold, it's quite soft. For some reason I thought it was Edwardian or toward the 20s, but I have no basis for that! Any ideas on date? You can't see the babies clothes, unfortunately.
Makes me a little bit sad that it has ended up with me and I have no idea who it is, but...
I am not a jewellery person (I just know what I like when I see it!) so I am about to inundate you all with tons of questions. I apologise in advance.. Also sorry as I keep making thumbnails when I want big pictures! first is this:
How do I describe? Lucite, yes? Has glitter in the...
Not too concise but worth a look - found it when I was looking up the meaning of collar on Wikipedia. I have SUCH an exciting life!!

After 2 months of greatly reorganising (photos to follow soon!) my stock, and photography 'studio' I finally remembered that I was supposed to list things on ebay to earn a living. Ooops. So after my brief hiatus I am back to listing! Will update the website too at the weekend, as I have been...
Cross posted with you there Sara, sorry!
House of She produces some interesting google searches, but sadly not quite what I was after, as you can imagine... :D
Roecliff & Chapman= a bit posh - Liz has a dress up now on eBay with some info: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Dramatic-40s-50s-new-look-vintage-couture-fantail-dress_W0QQitemZ270087111693QQihZ017QQcategoryZ38566QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Bourne and Hollingsworth, famous London dept. store...
I think posh mid- late 50s, without trying to go by my black and white pictures!
Here as some little snippets from the book credited above in my previous post, which probably aren't relevant exactly but may be useful in future:
"In the 1930s rayon appeared as a substitute for silk in...
Do you know what the fabric is Ang? I am looking in my brolly book (Umbrella's and Parasols by Jeremy Farrell) :) and that would help - they illustrate a 'black nylon outer covered umbrella with metal hook handle and printed nylon lining attached only at the ribs [ruffly like yours] , 1960...
HI Deborah! :)
I'm not sure either - a part of me thinks more 60s, but I know what you mean about the earlier confusion - those cuffs aren't that 60s housecoat are they?
Am in a rush but will think and be back later..
I think early to mid eighties on the latter, I remember my trendy aunty wearing those drawstringy things at the shoulder, and same (80s) with the first with that neckline and no collar.
I am a bit dogy on the late 70s early 80s cusp though (as it all blends into a bit of a hazy memory, as do...
