That's a pretty piece Maureen, and that foldover clasp with grooves looks right for 50's/60's bracelets, and not a replacement.
For descriptors, hmmmm let's see -- sector shaped openwork panels, simulated filigree, fancy link, articulated, multi-colored stones -- that's all I could think of...
That belt *is* lovely and appears very well made. Let's have a closer look at the closure (can you flip it over to where it opens?).
What is wrapped around the bottom ring? Is it black thread? Black chain? Can you spread open the fringe of that bottom tassel and expose what is beneath?
I agree, that these are all revival pieces -- the second to last with the bronzed finish appears to be contemporary. I see 50's/60's on the resin and glass cameos.
The style and brushed finish of the clasp on the chain maille belt appears to be on the newer side as well.
All very pretty...
Those drums are 'conga' and they appear to be stylized Cuban dancers doing the mambo or guaracha. Flamenco is Spanish (European) and these are Latin American dancers. :)
Lol, I think we were posting at the same time. :)
They wouldn't be bakelite if that's what you're thinking. Lucite (acrylic) can be light and it can be dense.
From the pic, they appear to be lampworked glass (nice tiger swirling), and since each one is knotted, I'm guessing that they have some weight.
Does the necklace have a clasp?
Sigh. I'm going to be the naysayer in this (blah), but your lovely brooch is contemporary -- perhaps 10 to 15 years on it.
A pretty violet posie. :)
Just so that you know -- the suffragette colors are purple, white, and green (representing loyalty or dignity, purity, and hope). The...
I would love to have it (I'm very weak in fabrics and just about everything, lol). But I would like to pay something (if no other takers so far). I'll send you an email.
Hi Mia -- Dorothy Kindell made 'pin up girl' ceramics -- I did a quick search online to see if I could locate your pin, but didn't see her particular face -- although her face is very familiar to me in that form, but can't place it.
A lot of her earlier pieces looked like this, while many of...
They do look like quills don't they?
OK, I just did some checking and they refer to these beads as 'bamboo', so I believe you can simply call it this instead of reed, etc.
I 'knew' at one time the Quechua word but can't remember it now. If I can contact some old Quechuan speaking friends...
