Well I have felt 1940s rayon before and it seemed to have a tighter weave than this dress. It was already quite small - vintage size 11. It has a paper tag with a woven backing. I learned a lesson. I normally dry clean 1940s dresses but I felt pretty confident about this one. Oh well. Live and...
So I have this dress I laundered in cold water. It is cut like a 1940s dress but is made of a synthetic fabric that I thought for sure was nylon tricot so thought it was a vintage repro. Well I washed it and I think it shrunk! it does not feel like crepe at all, so I ruled that out and washed...

I am currently reviewing a book titled Style Me Vintage: Weddings. It is an amazing resource for anyone interested in vintage wedding looks and vintage wedding gowns.
It's such a great show. You can buy the episodes via iTunes. I have included a button to purchase and download the show: http://www.debutanteclothing.com/vintage-fashion-maven-doris-raymonds-la-frock-stars/
I just got back from a very inspiring blogger conference called BlogHer. I am thinking, seriously this time, about offering some vintage specific social media and blogging workshops.
I was wondering if anyone would like to participate in this very quick (3 minutes or less) survey to get a...
MoreWine,
I know your request for hellp was sincere and you meant no harm. Education is your best insurance against buying fraudulent vintage, but I totally understand feeling this would be the ultimate place for reassurance.

My bottle says you do not have to rinse and I am not feeling the soapy residue Eileen was referring to, so I think I got the good stuff. I'm going to give it another go and then wash again with Eucalan just to be sure. Wish me luck!
I, some would say foolishly, purchased a hand embroidered 1920s cotton day dress or tunic. It had pit and unidentified stains all over. Don't ask me why I bought it. I just wanted to rescue it. I remembered someone on the board discussing Folex. I had already tried pretreating and washing with...
Do not alter. I just saw a picture on Adore Vintage's blog of a very stylish young woman wearing a Victorian dress and she looked amazing! Girls are buying these as is. Don't cut it!
Joules - yes, I'm keeping it!!
Linn - that was natural light with the WB set on cloudy because it was cloudy and I was in doors. Let me try to get a cu of just the metal. Thanks for your patience and expert advice.
Well I trust your vibe more than mine on this one Melody. I got a 1930s vibe as well. Just the color of the metal, but what threw me off was the size of the bracelet. It's pretty large for a larger wrist.
Hi Linn,
Sorry I took the photos with my cell phone so the quality isn't the best. I can try later with my DSLR. I have no idea what kind of metal it is. it's not silver, that I know. Maybe pewter?
