I found a different picture of the suit in WWD. The suit is from Chanel's last collection which was shown after she died. I can use this for precise dating. Again, many thanks to all of you. Claire

Victoria, I have a photo of a photocopy so it is really a poor image. When I went to NY in Oct. I went to the library at the Met to look at the notebooks which they had assembled before the 2006 Chanel exhibition. They included photocopies of all Chanel mentions in Vogue and WWD from the beginning of her career. This photo was in an article with details about the fashion show immediately after her death in 1971.
