Clearing our Grandmother's vintage/antique hoard!

@poppysvintageclothing @Linn

Yes definitely. At the moment I'm not really binning anything that's not totally broken or rusted, and my bootfair selection is a small chunk of modern plastic pieces, single strand french jet, faux pearl or crystal (where we have minimum 10) etc. Just to clear a little space

Everything else I'm sorting into bags or boxes by theme, bangles, prom necklaces, non bakelite early plastics etc. With the intention of then taking one thing at a time and researching in more detail, cataloguing and then my sister's and I can pick out anything we really like, we can look at getting an expert in to appraise anything we're not sure about and so on. Not a perfect system and no doubt I'll donate a few things I shouldn't but given the scale of the project, and my standing start, the best I can do

As for the stuff that reminds me of Granny, she's still wearing them, and has a sizeable chunk of her favourites at her current house, which is also hoarded full. That's a project for another year hopefully most of what I have at the moment she collected to resell so at least that isn't too much of a stress

Another Saturday, another hoard run. Found a fab suede skirt, a pouch bag I think might be pretty old, this hilarious label in a Christmas sweater and another "small" case and duffel of jewellery

Think I finally found a "proper" antique garment, this silk underthing has split draws so guessing it's a genuine antique garment. Sadly missing one lag riffle but otherwise in quite good shape. Found it in with this odd bit of shirt. Other fun things this chrome and green buckle/clasp thingy and a two piece I'm sorely tempted to wear to an upcoming wedding

Dangerous sports in a Christmas sweater? Too funny. Here is the label turned right side up, so it is easier to read...

I guess in some families Christmas is kinda dangerous

Found this absolutely adorable bakelite bird pin today which has a tube hinge so I'm guessing it's from the very end of the tube and the very start of bakelite jewellery which is exciting!

Some weird ones today as the great jewellery sort continues.

A flapper length necklace with faux jade glass and porcelain, lampwork, a couple of legit looking carved nut heads, and a selection of bone bunnies and fake carved nuts in china with enamelled rabbits on ... Any idea how to begin to decode it.

Other oddities, this copper chain with a teeny barrel shaped compass and these chonky cut away beads that are either coral or imitation and probably are some sort of trade bead but I haven't eve started to research African beads yet !

Hi All, just to say I'm in the process of moving so haven't been able to play much with the horde stuff. Did find these fab two pieces on my last trip, sadly both too small for me. Forgot to snap labels and now they're packed but the yellow comes with two skirts a plain yellow and a plaid which I think is just fabulous! Have missed chatting with you all and learning about all the vintage goodies, Rose

Hello all, finally unpacked and back from a much needed holiday in Andalusia and had my first weekend back at the horde! Working in the garage at the moment so less clothing to be found but did unearth some interesting bags!

The beaded one is very very heavy and feels old, I wonder if it could be as early as 1920s? It has a nice chevron pattern and a hand sewn "made in France label". The others are all label-less, two pouch type bags that I suspect are more 70s/80s Asian inspired jobs and a very fun plastic clutch that I'm thinking could be 50s?

That bird is adorable! I would totally wear that. What a fun adventure you are having.
