Okay, so they aren't that old, in fact I don't think they were terribly expensive when new either, but I thought they were just a hoot! I think they are about 1979-81. Essentially they are wedige heeled thongs with a wired gold faux snakeskin ankle strap that winds up the leg. THey are by Paolo Coretti, who I have never heard of...

Also, did a bit of drive by garage sale shopping on Saturday and found this hilarious "fashion plate" designer kit from 1978. There are plastic plates with raised line images of various skirts, tops and hats/hairstyles, and you can mix and match them into something like 120 designs by doing a rubbing of the plates. Clever idea, and certainly a great document of 1978 fashions! I want to keep it, but will probably not.
