How Far Back Can We Go? (The shoe game)

Those 20's brocade pumps look like new! So do those teens ones!! And the boots are to die for as well!

Jonathan is going to be crying that we did a shoe game while he was away... hehehe!!

WELL - he may have some real oldies that we will still be lookin for when he comes back. i am confident that someone else has the 1890s though if not the 1880s. of course, not me, though.

Heehee! I've shoes for most of the 19th century but don't want to hog all the eras :P Although I'm certain that Jonathan can go back way earlier than me! Plus I want to see what everyone else has in their collection ;)

I spotted the 20s shoes with 3 minutes left in the auction. I would never have looked, except the seller had a gallery picture. I clicked on the auction, and sure enough, they were clearly 20s, not 50s. I put in a last minute bid and got them. The condition is wonderful. They might have been worn 2 or 3 times.

OK, some 1890's shoes to get things rolling ;)

Shoot!!!! If we were allowed to go at it again, I have all sorts and can pretty do each and every year. But then I get stumped at 1930 and earlier, that's when it comes to a grinding halt!

WEll! THE NOIVE!!!

When the cat's away eh?

Of course I should probably be disqualified from playing anyway... just go to the shoe history link -- everything in there is mine...

the board was dead as a doornail when this all started and i was trying to stir some lurkers out : )

i know, Jonathan, we are all dripping with jealousy at your collection : )

My size 10 strappy boots which Jonathan dated at mid-late 1880's. Nice huh?

C'mon now guys let's see some shoes! ;)

DROOL!! Those are awesome Lei!!

WHY am I thinking the Wicked Witch of the West (East?) - the one who Dorothy dropped the house on?? hehehe!

Seriously, those are great. I would love to see even more but we're getting into those decades of only serious collectors - so sorry my stuff ends at the 1960's!

Love this thread! Maybe we could start another one for clothing, perhaps break it down into gowns, suits etc. I'm really getting an education.

Ok, me again :D

A pair of early 1870's white sateen button up boots with milk glass buttons. I have a book from the Royal Ontario Museum showing an identical styled pair, same heels and rolled scalloped tops but in kidskin which were worn to a wedding in 1872.

1860's anyone?? Or will I be forced to show off my side lacing boots? :P
