That just might be the real thing.

This is one sought after label.

If you are thinking of selling, you may want to reveiw some of the Doyle Auciton results on line for an idea of what price range you are looking at.

Now if you do go the bricks and mortar auction route, remember the house gets a generous cut - something in the 20 - 22% range.

Marian, I quickly scanned through my book before getting the flu and didn't see one like this, but will look more closely tonight.

Have you decided what to do with this?

If you find it too big of a hassle, I will take it off your hands :D

I'd love to put this label on the label resource, if that is okay with you, Marian.

    Thanks,
    Lizzie

Marian, the label you have is circa 1930 and has the Vionnet thumbprint
(designers then had the same prob that current ones do dealing with
    fakes)

I will scan a couple of things from the book in a sec.

Could you possibly post a larger pic of the dress? I've tried to enlarge it and lighten it but am still not able to see enough detail. I see a couple in the Vionnet book that may be the same style but am not sure

    Thanks!

The following are scans from the book "Madeleine Vionnet" by Betty Kirke. This book is a must-have for any vintie. One of my all time faves.

    Marian, here is your label:

    An early 20's label

    A mid 20's label:

(please note on the two pics above, I should have added an
    'e' to "Kirk")

These are great! Did the book tell you that little thumbprint tidbit?

Yes, Lizzie...that was in the book. At the back there is a second on copyright and the probs that designer's were having.

I am posting some photos of the now identified Vionnet dress. I am keeping it for a while just to pet and admire, but will eventually sell it at a yet to be chosen Couture auction. Thank you all. Marian
