Naming Colors

It can be dicey. I have this angora sweater.

It's not "red" and it's not bright pink or cerise, which had more violet tones I think. I like using this site for naming colors.

And the closest match I find is "Amaranth."

My brain tells me amaranth is a short-lived perennial and I suppose the flower could be this color, but somehow I don't see anyone searching "amaranth". Looking around more I see I can use "crimson" and that seems to describe it.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this fun site for naming colors.

Interesting - people see different colors too - depending on their monitors and how they see colors. I was just wondering what word to use as a keyword - a shade of red.

there was a time when an orangish red was also referred to as Chinese red, but agree, persimmon or coral would work!

I vote for persimmon as well but on your color chart, coral red looks accurate. (love the chart, so fun!)

I think people searching might type in coral, salmon, berry, pink or orange, and you may want to include as many as possible if you're using tags?

I've just had a poke around that site. It's really clever!

There's some odd colour names though that definitely aren't good keywords - Inch Worm? But it's a really fun little site.
