Our first exhibition in Hong Kong! Updated with film at 11:00

What an exciting venture, Jonathan!

Many congratulations, and yes, I'd love to see more pictures too! :drinkingtoast:

ANd more pictures you shall have! I just added film of an interview with Kenn and they show many of the shoes on display. Some of the shoes aren't quite as nicely prepped as I had them (too much handling) but I think it still looks very good.

Fantastic!! :wow22:

Kenn is a very composed interviewee, and came over so well.

Jonathan, I was going to ask you about what it was like to set up an exhibition outside a museum environment. I'm guessing that your contacts maybe weren't quite up to speed with correct museum practise!

It all looks truly spectacular, though.

No, he's back, but he heads back to HK in a couple of weeks for a few days holiday with a friend and then picks up the shoes on the 31st. He didn't actually get the chance to see much of Hong Kong while he was there because of the number of interviews lined up. He tried to get to the 10,000 Buddhas park but went in the wrong entrance and ended up in a Chinese cemetary! He did see a great museum about Hong Kong's history and managed a half day in downtown Hong Kong - he saw just enough to know that he wants to see more! He also never even got a chance to have a good dim sum!

The 50 pairs of shoes packed into two large suitcases (the maximum allowed for checked baggage on the plane!) We hired Pacart, an art shipper, to deal with all the paperwork. Everyone I spoke with had a different set of rules and paperwork for us to fill out. It was easier just to call a professional and say - do it. They were great and it made going through customs a breeze. Kenn was escorted to the front of the line at customs and whisked through!

WOW!!!

I missed this thread earlier and am so glad that I saw it now. Loved the video - the shoes are stunning and Kenn did a phenomenal job - very relaxed and knowledgeable sounding.

Congrats Jonathan and Kenn!

Sue:)

Congratulations! Such exquisite shoes.

Slightly off topic but re the saggy trousers issue, I thought you might be interested recent UK news about a judge overturning a banning order (an ASBO for those who know the term) given to a teenager forbidding him from “wearing trousers so low beneath the waistline that members of the public are able to see his underwear" The judge decided that this breached his human rights.
