Thrills on Toast LOL. That's cute. I thought I have heard them all.
BTW...how many handbags do you own?

That's funny Kristine...no one would pay you enough for the seperation pain. I am finding that after they are gone, or in the shipping box, suddenly it makes it not so bad. And then you have the money to buy something even better.

  2. :BAGUSE: I think I need to go change purses. I have a lot of vintage bags but just seem to carry this old fabric shoulder purse around since it has all these neat compartments stitched to each side.

Maybe I will change it when the time changes.:P Well, you replace the batteries in your smoke alarm then, right?:duh:

Ok Linda...show us what it looks like.

    Speaking of fabric bags...

I remember vaguely my mother having a purse party somewhere around the time frame of 1979. (could have ben 78 or very early 80 but am pretty sure it was 79) . It was like a Home Interiors or a Tupperware party. It was Darren bags that i have never heard of except for that one time. (HOW do i remember that?) They looked quilted on the outside, and the inside were a print fabric and all the compartments were velcro. I remember her buying a brown one with an interior of tiny flowers. The big deal was you could throw em in the wash and some reversed. I think my grandmother bought a white one.

I bet no one else knows what i am even talking about, and I don't know why i even remember so vividly. They certainly have no influence in what i carry today. At the time i was carrying a plastic purse my mom had from the late 50s i think. That was way out of style in 1979 but i loved it. And of course i really had no need to carry one at the time but i used that one anyhow.

And there were years and years i didn't carry a purse at all...just always had really full pockets. put much later i picked up the habit again.

  4. How many handbags do I own??????

Well, if you include all the ones I purchased to sell and have never quite been able to do.... (did I actually say I was going to list some recently? I must have been sleep talking!!)

    I probably have 30-ish???

    And you?????

Umm.....is there something to be said if one cannot produce the number off the top of their head. And I am talking about keepers or things i am holding onto until they are older and not counting ones that are definitely for sale or will be soon.

I will have to get back to you on that one, okay LOL

    Am I evil?

I won't answer that question, Chris.;)

I have about 6 bags that I regularly carry. In my collection, I probably have 50+ vintage bags dating from 1900-2000. The only one I carry is a Enid Collins wooden box bag with bugs.

I'm almost ashamed to show these....

A Coach lunchbox that I've been carrying for 9 years now. It's battered and worn, but it is the perfect size and I just can't gice it up.

Inside is this little Coach bag from last year. I love it, but it isn't aging well.

I've also carried this silly bag and little purse a lot this winter. I paid about $10 at Target:

Not a handbag, but my school tote, bought at Harrods a few years back. (Are you seeing the emergance of a theme?)

And, new, for summer, a vintage John Romain. I always wanted one of these as a teenager, but was too poor to buy one. It is wonderfully made, and my new favorite!

    yes I do see a theme :)

I lost out on two dachshund purses and am so dying to have a vintage dacshie purse. See many with screenprinted ones that are new by the dozen but want something a bit older...but your newer scottie purses are adorable.

I love the coaches too. Great colors.

And the last one. Maybe that is why i like odd looking shoes. was too young to wear them when they came out, or just wasn't able to get....like a pair of sandal skates or sneakers that i will own someday LOL

I will have to dig out pictures of some more.

I STILL haven't got around to counting my handbags. I will SOON though guys, I promise.

  9. Well, I just scored a ton of bags over the last 2 weeks. I was mad at Barry so I went out picking for the entire day and found some very sweet purses!! A tapestry Morris Moskowitz, a fab white patent leather box purse, a 70s macrama & bead purse (handmade with the old boutique tag still attached), a gorgeous buttery leather black kelly bag from Italy and yesterday I came up with 2 lovely Whiting & Davis handbags!! :spin:

    Yeeeha! :P
