Actually, i searched on the internet and found out about two companies that put together the gift baskets/ gift bags...

last year...the winners received a $12,000 gift bag, and the ones who didn't win got a $32,000 gift bag (including a trip to Caesar's Palace

I missed the red carpet parade due to visitors, but I turned it on to see the grand opening, only to see a rather boring compilation of film clips and an excrutiatingly unfunny opening stand-up from Chris Rock.... I turned it off.

I loved that Morgan Freeman finally won! He has been nominated so many times.

on Renee Zellweger...some don't think she would have really caught on until she wore that yellow dress to the oscars a few years back and became the "IT" girl people wanted to cast....what do you think about that?

Beyonce is on now singing one of the nominated songs in a watercolor looking halter dress

I turned it back on after a while and can not believe they have decided that some people aren't good enough to go on the stage to accept their awards but instead they chuck them a statue in the aisle... This is the entertainment industries awards? It looks to me like all their care about are bankable female stars to show up in a good dress. This is the most appallingly bad Oscar ceremony I have ever seen. I am now turning it off for good for the rest of the evening.

    Cate Blanchett looked fab though...

I missed the opening as well. But I have not seen Chris Rock at all since i have been watching. I saw Robin Williams. Maybe they added others that are a little more tried and true more prominently to dissipate the controversey just in case Chris Rock totally bombed out.

I thought Cate Blanchett looked rather washed out, but maybe it was the lighting where she was standing in the aisle.

I liked that 50s style halter full skirt chiffon dress that Beyonce was
    wearing.

Didn't really see Drew Barrymore's dress.

Oh...thought Robin Williams was his usual funny self and loved his
    jacket!

I thought Cate Blanchett looked wonderful!

Personally, I did not like Hillary Swank's dress. :BAGUSE:

Well, from the perspective of a former stage manager, I think that putting a few things in the aisles gets things to run quicker - you can immediately cut to something up on stage a second later. But then again, last time they had a few different spots set up on the big stage to alternate between. But because it was a tech award, I can see where it would definitely look like "chucking them in the aisle". I really think, the flow of the show aside, I think that you can't deny someone the thrill of rushing up on stage to accept their award.

Having seen Cate on stage (and while not on the nordic track - me), I have to revise my first impression of her...she did look wonderful!

I'm glad the Aviator won for costume. My second choice was Neverland.

    okay...back to the tv

Meow comment here...anyone else think Beyonce's hips looked 5 ft wide when she was singing with Josh Groban? Very pretty song.

Liz, the Spanish song won...first time ever that a Spanish song has been
nominated and it won. I liked the acceptance 'song'.

Hilary Swank was sweet. First I had seen her dress......yep, Hollis, very low back, but she looked great.

Sue...my husband said the same thing immediately!!! She looks great in a halter dress and things that show off her legs, but she looked rather hippy in that. Don't wear that kind of dress if you are pear shaped unless you want to show off your hips. I bet in person she looked voluptuous, but on the tv, it just did not make her look balanced. I doubt she will get on the worst dress list for that, though. She might be bulletproof.

the pictures are not all yet available but i think the big fashion news was yellow.

One of the directors of Born in a Brothel wore a yellow dress, Morgan Freeman's wife, Cate Blanchett and a few others. that is what i noticed anyways....
