I was wondering if anyone has ANY information on this Label. It is in a superbly constructed striped wool coat which looks (vaguely) to be from late 50's to late 60's.

It does look 70's.... I am finding little information on this company. Supposedly they had a shop on Madison Avenue and stylistically a couple of vintage pieces (sold on the internet) that have this label in them, have similar collar and garment body patterning. Would love to know which designer was associated with this company!

I also found an interesting read about their son's interior design business here: https://www.1stdibs.com/introspective-magazine/damon-liss/ Also there is mention of a Beth Liss as being joint owner with her husband.
Hi Christine!
Your coat is amazing and I'm so glad you brought this interesting label to our attention!
With your permission, I'd like to include it in the VFG's Label Resource - just let me know how you'd like to be credited.
Thanks!

This is from my grandfather store that he owned with his brothers. Joseph David and Buddy Liss owned the stores and factory in queens. They had stores in New York City, Paris, London, Puerto Rico, and the Hamptons. Pretty much everything was made custom order, and it was the highest quality materials in the world and the best seamstress in the metro area. Stores were frequented by the Who’s Who of fashion. Very likely if you have a piece or a jacket or a dress may have been custom made. If anyone has any pieces they no longer want I will happy to purchase them for my family. They were my uncle's and grandfather.

Hello Marsha and Liss Family! For label resource, you can credit me Christine Joly/CJDLDESIGN. I have also recently listed this beautiful coat on Etsy. (*edited by admin: links are not allowed by registered guests)

I hate to part with it (and have worn it to many special occasions), but it should go to someone who will enjoy it now and have a good second (or third) life!

I just picked up a jacket with the attached label. It’s so cool I had to get it but didn’t know anything about it. Is this the same group? The label is slightly different.

I just found a jacket similar to this one in style and with a similar label. The details are truly stunning. If anyone has any more information I’d love to know more.

Hi, my mother was a pin model and worked in the shop in the city. She remembers Buddy fondly. Buddy was a friend of my aunt Marylyn Evans, a well known television producer at the time. Mom has a cute story that she tells of the evening that Pearl Bailey and her husband came into the shop.
Best regards,
Cate Berger
