Oh thanks, Linn.
All of the fabric has this weave.
I can't get a pic of the back of the fabric as this is a lined tie.
Maybe this pic makes more sense? The light parts are actually raised. It's all very 3D-ish.
What do you call this sculptured effect on this fabric, please?
All I can think of is embossed & that is waaay off.
It's 100% silk.
I hope you can see what I'm asking about. Not the actual print, but the way the silk fabric has a 'carved' look in the background.
Thanks ever so - Leisa
Oh, there's no way I can get into a vintage 8B, Darn - those are Perfect, too, Maggie.
So, I'm still on my quest, but I have at least a month to worry about it.
Thanks!

My question is - do you think I can make a Bollywood ref in the description or even in the title? And if in the title, is there an Acronym for that?
Many Thanks!

Hi Linn - No, my dates are right. My Mom was born in 1919. She passed in 1994.
If she'd lived 2 more days, she would have been 75.
My dad was born in 1903. He was 50 when I was born. Surprise! :spin:
Maybe I have the grandmother's mixed up.

Thanks!
I was told by an antique dealer that the tubes were bone. But now that I look at them with the loop, they DO appear to be rather like wood. So I think a treated bamboo may be right.
The ends are discolored & look almost like they were burned to cut them.
Of course, that could also...

Great Grandmother passed away in the late 20's or early 30's. Mom said G-G Ma had kept this necklace for a long time.
Mom was born in 1919.
Now why didn't I think to ever ever tap these on my teeth?
The verdict is in & they are Glass!

Ahhh, you are so sweet Laura.
I'll post the shell necklace later this month. I'm trying to get as many listings ready as I can for Christmas in July.
I just was so very curious about this necklace & am truly grateful for everyone's help.
The flowers feel more like plastic, but maybe...
Oh!
It's way cool & there is a matching necklace w / a different hallmark on ebay right now.
I believe my set is an earlier one - as in late 40's or early 50's.
It's not real stones. I'm convinced it's enamel.
But maybe it's faux stones.
Here ya go:
Oh! Just realized you said...
Laura - The 'jewels' really don't feel like glass, but they could be?
I don't know that it ever had a gold wash, but that would make sense with the brass or gold toned clasp. I just assumed the clasp had been replaced at one time.
I have never ever done anything to the necklace. I was...
Oh I don't mind one bit! Thanks so much!
Here's the best I can do for a shot of my clasp.
My landlady just looked at it & she believes it's actually silver. But there are no marks & the clasp & hook look more like brass.
The clasp cover has a lovely little butterfly on it. I wish I...
I can not get a pic of the clasp because my dumb camera hates anything small.
It's an ornate cover with a little hook that goes inside that.
I'll see if I can find a decent pic of one that's at least similar to mine. BRB
I found it! I found it!
