Hi there!

My name is Laurie, and I live in MN.

I love vintage clothing. I love vintage ANYTHING!

I got started buying it when I started going to estate sales more than I did garage/yard sales, because all I could find was NEW...junk.

I feel I have a pretty good eye, I don't spend a lot, but it's so much fun to look!

I'm having a blast reading through the posts on here, and am going to fill out a membership application, as I sell what I buy on Ebay.

I'm a single mom of a 14 year old.

Hi Laurie,

Welcome! This is a wonderful place.. and you will be amazed at the expertise here.. so many people with a wealth of knowledge they love to share, and even a few published authors!

There's quite a few single moms too, so we can all relate. You'll find just your love of vintage gives you a lot in common here!

Hi, all! I’ve been a lurker here for ages and know lots of you from other boards. I’m really happy to have finally written up a little profile and registered. I’m looking forward to getting acquainted with those of you I’ve silently admired from afar. And before this weekend is over I’m going to read this entire thread!

I’m another of the legions of part-time vintage sellers whose inventory far exceeds my listings. But for the time being I have a strict “No more shopping” rule in place that I’ve managed to honor for three months (although a house call for 30s and 40s dresses is coming up -- no WAY am I passing that up). My storage room is crammed with clothing spanning the decades, and anxiety really kicks in when I think of what I have that’s not listed. But my other commitments (including looking for work as a copy editor following my layoff and working on a labor-intensive commission for a quilt for the wall) keep me from listing nearly as much as I’d like. My offerings are a little paltry right now.

I really like the community here and have learned so much from all of you. My thanks to the peeps who toil behind the scenes to keep VFG chugging along …

See you all around the virtual water cooler!

Howdy!

Are we twins??? I sit here reading and typing while surrounded by TONS of things I should be listing~

Okay, off my butt and to the camera!

Nice to meet cha':hiya:

Hi MC,

Nice to meet you! It sounds like you have your hands full in spite of the layoff and I'll bet you can find plenty more to keep you busy in the down time, like chatting with all of us.

Looking forward to getting to know you!

Waving from Vermont - Hi MC - GREAT to see you over here.

Boy I hear you on the inventory. I have been buying for years and you can still get some great deals around here.... bag sales ... 5 blouses for $1 ... that kind of thing. So I can't resist. I am actually going to have a "Free" Yard sale (in my heated greenhouse) with all the borderline stuff I know I will never list. I have no desire to price things or to haggle - I just want it out of here and to good homes.

Memories

My memories sent me looking for anything connected to my favorite clothing, and I came here. I had assumed that it would be impossible to locate obscure information relating to a certain hat, or dress. I live in Arizona, and I am 61. I collect old things, and love to buy vintage clothing. Luckily, I live in a town where anything goes, fashion wise ! I am a single vegetarian, and I sew a little bit. I love to dress up, and pose for pictures with old cars and old buildings. I live about an hour from Las Vegas. My hobby is hunting thrift shops for the odd garment. Thank you for the opportunity to join in as a friend. :hiya:

Hi, there, velvetsage, nice to meet you. :hiya: We'll look forward to questions about your finds.

And now I'm not the newest newbie!

Hi everyone!

I've been collecting vintage clothing and jewelry for a long time, but didn't know that this site existed!

I am not a seller but have an extensive private collection of 1940's, 50's and some Victorian/Edwardian pieces of vintage clothing, as well as a collection of vintage jewelry from the Victorian through 1950's.

I'm here to learn more about vintage clothing, in particular, effective preservation techniques as well as pricing of my items for insurance and possible sale at some point, as my collection has grown so large that I feel like it might be time to let go of some of my pieces (which I'm sure might sound like heresy to some other collectors here!).

I look forward to learning and talking to fellow vintage clothing addicts! :)

Thanks!

Mary

I started reading this forum about a month ago thanks to Carrie from Glad Rags and Curio's, and have posted a few times. I collect and sell vintage costume jewelry but am "fairly" new to collecting vintage clothing. Period History is a passion of mine, and I am particularly interested in fashion, jewelry and the interiors of the period. My background is interior design and I have also done some image consulting. I have an extensive and growing library - including Jonathan's latest book which I orderd the minute I looked at this site. It is fabulous!

I just returned from a wonderful weekend in SF where I acquired some vintage pieces at the Deco Show. None of the labels appear on this Board so I will add them when I am able. The only one that is familiar to me is David Warren which is on a '60's sheath with matching jacket.

I live in Hawaii but grew up in the E. Coast and still do not wear white shoes after Labor Day. I love to "dress" and fortunately do have the opportunity.

I am delighted to have found this Forum and look forward to particpating.

Aloha,

Linn
