Hi Eileen,

You are going to love it here, there is more passion in this group then you will anywhere about any subject.

Welcome, Eileen.

There is a veritable plethera of information here.

You can look up labels, search the members' items for sale, and just learn, learn, learn from all the different discussions & blogs you'll find here.

New to the board

Good day everyone. I'm new to the boards and wanted to introduce myself. I've been selling on eBay for years. Only recently (about 1 year ago) have I been introduced to the search of vintage clothing. It all started with a friend that is a musician. He was always looking for vintage '70s & '80s t-shirts and western shirts. I found that I really enjoyed 'the hunt' and continued searching after he moved away. For the most part I have stuck with t-shirts, western shirts and some shoes. Mostly identifying 70's and 80's styles. More recently I've been finding sweaters. The more I've learned on my journey the more exciting the hunt becomes! I look forward to being able to offer more in the future, but I'm very happy to have found this board!

Hello eveyone, I have just joined the VFG a couple of days ago. I live in Denmark (although I am originally from Holland) where I own an online vintage store. I am SOOO happy I was approved, as I have only sold vintage clothing for the past year - and I am not a fashion industry person, just a girl who is mad about vintage clothing! Online vintage is still a relatively new phenomenon in Scandinavia, but it is getting bigger by the month.
I love reading the discussions about dating things in here, that is one of the things I love most - I usually visit vintage sites and guess when things are from - often I get it right
:USETHUMBUP, but when something has been manufactured early on in a decade, I often get it wrong:duh2:.

Okay, that was a long story, sorry for rambling on! Hope to get to talk to you on the forums or somewhere else - have a great day!

So lovely to meet you and welcome to the forums. If you love vintage you'll fit right in. :sunshine: I think we've already got some welcome messages for you on the forums somewhere. It might take a while to get used to where everything is so just take your time and enjoy. There are lots of wonderful people here so please ask if there's anything you want to know. :)

Thank you Louise, and thank you Kristine - very kind of you! Kristine: I am unable to open that thread, the message I get is: "Sorry, you are not permitted to view this forum". Hmm...where did I go wrong?

It's very retro. You used to be a stylist, maven, fashionista etc depending on how many posts you had made. That has gone by the wayside it appears. It's a blast from the past to see it though..

See now, that was interesting! I had noticed that as well, and wondered why I was called a "stylist" - but it is very retro then, I guess. I am going to see if someone can change me from being a stylist to being an actual trade member. Thanks for your help!

Hello--i sent a U2U to Susan and made her aware of your problem. I'm sure she will get you into the trade side soon.

There is a nice "welcome" over there for you!

Tiffany

Good morning

I think I fixed the problem - sorry about that - still on a learning curve as an administrator!

I also changed the "theme" to make it a little easier for you to see the difference betwen the public and private forums. You can go into your "edit profile" and change it if you'd like.

And welcome!!!!

If you can post as to whether or not you can get into the private forums, one of us can move this thread over there.

Thanks!

Susan

Been reading through the boards for a bit, decided to become a member, and now posting to say hello. My name is Courtney, have been adoring and collecting vintage since I was 15 (am now 21). It is a hobby I share with my mother, and grandmother. I'm currently a Medical Illustration student minoring in History (all history fascinates me, especially fashion) in upstate New York, but my heart is in Pittsburgh. This summer, I hope to start selling some vintage pieces of mine, as I am running out of room in my apartment!

It's very good to see this community and I hope to get to know many of you. I have already gotten much helpful advice on dating and measurements, hopefully I can offer some expertise of my own soon.

Hi! I am new to this site and I am amazed at the resources...even overwhelmed. I have in my attic clothes worn by my grandmother (born 1986) and my mother (born 1923). I used to be able to enjoy wearing them myself and love the details and style of clothes from the 30's, 40's, and early 50's. Now I feel the clothes need to go somewhere, to a theatre, college/university or to a museum...donated. So I will explore this site and keep my eyes open.
THANKS! Andrea

Hello to all at the fantastic VFG

I first came to this wonderful site early last year, and was on here a lot for a few months, then disappeared for a while, so I just wanted to say hello again.

I'm based in London, UK, and I've had the vintage bug for a few years now.

At that time I was just beginning to get into selling, at that point on ebay, and since then I've made more progress, selling at a few small fairs in London. I'm soon going to start putting a lot of my stock online on ebay again and am planning to open a etsy shop (when I can think of what to call it!). As well as clothes I have spectacle frames, knitting and sewing patterns, buttons, and other collectables. When I've a bit more experience I hope to apply for Trade membership.

I learnt so much from the knowledgeable and generous people here when I was here before, and I'm sure i will continue to do so.

It's good to be back!

Ruth
