Hi My name is jen!
I have always had a love affair with vintage clothes and jewelry, but for some reason have never been able to dress myself as the true vintage vamp of my dreams. Hence, I started selling on ebay because I have a semi shopping addiction and knack for finding fabulous vintage items that would otherwise become a big collection that sits in my house.
As I find my treasures, i always come here to check out the label resource and this has been a BIG help. Although I haven't posted much, I've spent a lot of time here!

Hi, all. I'm in love with this forum! Earlier in the year a friend handed me some Trigere, Galanos, a Halston, etc. All fablous, mostly 1970s, 1980s, all from estate of recently deceased wealthy Holmby Hills art collector. So, I found VFG label research page and started selling the stuff. (Been selling antique-y stuff on line for years). Now I pick up vintage designer goodies when I find them and frequently check VFG label site for dates. So - just discovered the forum! I waste (or do I mean luxuriate in) hours upon hours of time researching before I list an item. Everything is learned on a per item basis. Usually it doesn't help when I pick up the next goody at thrift store or garage sale. Which brings me to what I'll be researching next. Swear to God I stopped by garage type sale at famous old Hollywood apartment building early Saturday morning (mostly seniors living there) and bought 7 pieces of lingerie, appearing to be 1920s or '30s. Mostly labeled 'Imported, hand made'. Obviously all by same manufacturer. Chinese I think. So, I'll be asking about that 'cause I know absolutely nothing about silk, lace, netting, stitches, etc. I could easily get lost reading past posts. Must restrain myself. Thanks for being here.

After years of being a silent spectator, I am finally signed up and ready to contribute [and ask everyone tons of terribly annoying over-asked questions]! I've been collecting vintage clothing since before my age was in the double digits, and it quickly consumed my life. It's been over 15 years now, and though I'm still learning, I can confidently say I've gained quite a bit of knowledge through my experience. I must say, this site and forum have been an absolute godsend throughout my research in the past few years! So happy to finally be joining in.

just looking for advice

I am Bee, and I know nothing about vintage clothes--just looking for advice on a jacket. I do occasionally stumble on cool finds--I am addicted to thrift stores, so this board is very interesting.

Hello, I signed up some time ago but don't think I've ever posted so here's my official hello! I'm excited to learn from all of you.

I'm a thrift store addict and have been since I was a child. Being the youngest of 8 with not tons of money in our family, I had hand me downs and thrift stores clothes most of my school years.

I have the eye for spotting vintage in thrift stores and really have a passion for it. Both clothing and collectibles. Fast forward to the early 90s I started selling my findings to vintage stores in Hollwood, CA. It wasn't so much the money as it was the "sourcing." Then online selling came along and have been doing it ever since. That was in 1999. I now specialize in selling vintage clothing and accessories and love it!

I'm not an expert in vintage per se but am self taught in many areas. I had a very bad experience on another forum with some vintage sellers and hope this experience will be different. We never stop learning is my way of thinking about it.

thanks!

hello!!!

Hi everyone, my name is Cerian and I live in Ireland. I have been collecting vintage clothing for many years. I have been selling for the last two years and have set up a business at home, which suits me now I have two children under 3!

I hope to join the VFG and share my experience and knowledge on this board, and to meet like minded people!

Hi. This seems such a fun site. I'm just a neophyte when it comes to vintage and tend to dress myself in a pretty slap-dash (not to say "schlumphy") way. I had a great-aunt, though, who knew what was what in the twenties and thirties, and I was left some of her dresses, most of which I've sold off, I'm afraid, as she was 5 ft 9 and I am 5 ft 2. Well, at least I can wear her jewelry!
Anyway, will look forward to reading posts and looking at photos!
Thanks,
Meredith
