Hello - just found this site and decided not to bother lurking one moment!

I'm a neophyte when it comes to the vintage clothing world and my familiarity is limited to countless hours spent in my (late) Mothers closet - dreaming, reading the book Pretty Pretty Peggy Moffitt, watching my oh-so-chic Mom dress time and time again and snippets of stories about the Jax Boutique, Rudi Gernreich, life in LA in the late 50's and early 60's and their Cool School artist friends...

Hoping to glean some information about the era and the designers of the clothing that my sisters and I now have...

Hello all. New here and feeling more than a little lost in how to do things so bear with me please. Not a big social networking person.
I work in costuming and so come across and use vintage clothing pretty regularly. On the side I collect and sell it as well on Etsy, Bonanza, and now less frequently on eBay.
Discovered this site when looking for information on a a clothing label and decided to register to get some input on a couple of new pieces I acquired as well as learn from the many postings. First I need to learn how to get pictures on here so I can ask about the two womens suits I am wondering about. Looks like I need to use my photobucket account to do this but still not sure how or where the upload "button" is here :)

Hi and welcome...the photo button is the 4th one in from the right the one with the mountain and the sun, yellow background.

You have to do one at a time, so you click on that icon
and fill in the pop up box with the url for the photo

and just leave a space between each photo

also, the size of the photos should not be larger than 500 x 500

Looking forward to seeing your items!

Hi forever52!
I work in costuming too, and collecting vintage can be a bit of an occupational hazard cant it!. Trouble is, once you start selling it you get hopelessly addicted to it, and then still have to somehow get the costumes made as well!!
I look forward to seeing your photos !
cheers Gayle.

Thanks for the warm welcomes and photo posting info!
Yes Gayle it is a hazard at times. Funny how when you meet others of this same interest you find you are not alone in the addiction. Ha ha when I shop with my daughters at both thrift stores and dept. stores, sometimes the strangest things catch my eye and it is invisioned as some part of a costume. They have learned to go with the flow once they hear the explanation of why I may have been side tracked by some "out there" and sometimes useless looking pieces.

Well its great to meet others that do the same thing, costume world can seem small sometimes when you are working a show or a project, but then when you can meet people from the other side of the world doing similar things you go, there's actually a lot of us out there hunched over a sewing machine!
I started out collecting vintage just for theatre shows, but then the amount of theatre shows being produced that needed vintage items started to dry up thru lack of funding and resources and whatever, and a friend eventually talked me into selling it online.
I hope your online selling is really successful for you, and that you can balance it with your costume passion at the same time, which is what I constantly try to do ;) cheers Gayle

Hi all!
Im trying to upload images but it keeps coming up error?? Ive uploaded images of the same size and file type before. Any help greatly appriciated :-))

Hey fellow vintage fiends! I'm new to the site, just saying hello. Does anyone know of any hot vintage stores in Los Angeles? I'm new there too (I'm a recent Brooklyn transplant).

Glad to be here! Hope to meet you all soon.

Hey Lisa!

I think you use the image brackets as shown on the left. I'm not a techy lady, but us newbies have to stick together. Hope that helps!

I'm new here... I've been stalkin around for a while and decided it's time to say hello. I've always loved older things- I grew up in a small retirement town full of yummy vintage- and I find so much inspiration here. I've had questions from time to time but usually felt too shy to ask but I'm getting over it starting NOW! :singing: And I thought I'd add a smiley just for fun. :)

Hope everyone is having a lovely Monday!
