Hello from the Atlanta, Ga area!

I have been selling off and on for quite a few years, mostly online, and in a B&M in the early 90's. I am trying to get moving! I am so slow to sell things becuase I like them to be as perfect as possible, and as researched as possible before I sell.

I have no specific specialty, I love what I love and I buy/sell what I love or what those I know love. My favorite eras are... 30's-60's, but love a great 70's empire waisted maxi dress as well. I love day dresses that can be worn casually anytime of the day, and I really love eveningwear/cocktail dresses too. I just cant decide what I love the most. Oh, and I LOVE handbags of all sorts, pre 70's.

Hello!

"I just cant decide what I love the most"

Me neither, so you're in good company! Welcome along, can't wait to see what you have when you do start to sell again. I really understand the research aspect though, and think it's a good thing. :)

Hi -- I'm Joan and I research and write about vintage fabrics. My true collectible is Indian Head cloth which I learned to sew on but I love all fabrics, and have sewn all my life. I look back at the first nylon yardage and garments; what a fiasco. I also mourn the passing of the luxurious wools of the 1950s, something we won't see again in such variety and texture.

Have always been interested in fashion, nearly chose it as a career. I used to help a friend with her vintage and collectible clothes business until she retired. I think there is nothing more stylish than clothes from the 1930s through end of WWII. They were made to flatter and love the body, not grunge it per today's styles. I am also attracted to the Edwardian, an age of femininity for sure.

This appears to be a knowledgeable group and am looking forward to all of your expert input.

Hello! I'm Meg, a student living in Oxford, UK.

I'm a very recent fanatic, I'm afraid. Earlier this year, I bought two dresses from hattysattic on eBay and I decided they were simply the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I still maintain that Harriet has the best ever vintage collection! :bisou: Since then, I trawl through eBay whenever I can, I visit charity shops, car boot sales and vintage shops and clutters whenever I can. My boyfriend thinks I'm mad.

I joined up today, because I've decided I want to take it a step further. I was actually looking for information on other places to buy vintage clothing, how to get in contact with people. But then I saw all the wonderful photos on here!

Anyway, hi everyone :) Is there a list of the vintage fashion guild members (the ones with shops, as featured on the website?) who are in the UK? I'm just seeing how I can save on postage :sniff:

Hello Meg!!:hiya:

You are kind, and it's nice to see you here! I'm very glad I have played a part in sparking your addiction... :horny:

Edwin at Blind Lemon Vintage emailed me yesterday and said he is doing a Fair in Oxford in January (28th I think - not sure if students will be back then?)It's going to be in Summertown, here's the link to his website. Oxford's not on there yet but I'm sure he'll get the details up soon, there are a few others coming up too you may wish to check out:

As for UK sellers, if you search VFG as a keyword (in titles and description) on ebay UK you'll find any sellers registered on there. They'll probably have links to any off ebay shops on their 'me' pages. International sellers should give you fair postage though too - and considering Royal Mails crazy price increases it is quite a viable alternative at times!

Assume you've trawled Oxford's vintage shops already? :D

Bon jour!

It's New York Fashion Week! I found this site through a friend and thought I would register. I'm a 30-something fashionista with a LOVE for all things vintage, particularly the 1930s through the early 1960s. I do admit 1980s fashions are a particular guilty pleasure and it is nice to see contemporary designers re-imagining those shoulder pads, triangle silhouette and glam in a modern, more subdued way. Hopefully, big hair will NOT make a comeback. Still, there's nothing like vintage Halston, is there?

I've been selling vintage via vintage clothing shows and antique malls on and off for years. I have a degree in fashion merchandising and like to sew for myself.

Other miscellaneous information-I'm addicted to Project Runway and What Not to Wear (the US and UK versions). My cable provider does not get the Style Channel so I don't get to see the show hosted by Finola Hughes whose title I've forgotten. I'm very fond of sales and will greatly miss Filene's since Federated Department Stores bought up all of the regional department stores, including Filene's, Marshall Field's and Robinsons-May.

I hope to meet other vintage lovers and network fashion research including dating clothing, labels, how products were advertised and the like.

Thanks to the site owner for such a great site!

Hi Sandra.

Nice to see you again.
I got your newsletter a little while back - your site is looking good!

Oh and congratulations about the Daly part :bouncy:

Chris

Hi everyone - I'm a new-old member. I have been a VFG member for a few years and just got my stuff together to become registered over here as well! Finally! :spin:
