new to you
Hello, I have only recently gotten hooked by vintage: it started w. trying to find a great Bottega bag, off price: instead I discovered Roberta di Camerino (Maier copied an early bag of her I was in love with) and from there!!! 14 vintage bags later I have also discovered that vintage accessories and clothing are a completely unique way for me to build my personal style, now that my figure is looking better than in years, and, if not now (53years old) when?? Also, I live in NY & teach at Parsons so I pride myself on looking sharp. Where several years ago I envied the style of a few particular colleagues I find that now, they look to me for being fashion forward! These are my passions: R di C bags 50s-present,
Claire McCardell dresses, Bonnie Cashin outerwear, Schiaparelli pendants & such, Czech beaded necklaces & folk costumes, Courreges sweaters 70s,
I think I'll stop there. A particularily great find was a velvet Hanae Mori jacket, perfect fit, in to die for pretty colors!! For now I am buying but soon I will be selling a bit also. Vintage dealers are expensive but sometimes have the best things: otherwise I stick to Ebay or hoof it around town. For me vintage is best mixed w. modern: otherwise you are wearing a costume people! Dealers are particularily bad I have to say. For new fashion, just about anything Italian: never buy bags or shoes not made in Italy, same w. glasses. ciao! Murri
