Dear all,

My name is Vanesa, I am from Barcelona ( Spain ). I found VFG because i am working on a project of having my own vintage store here in Barcelona. Well, I am just doing market research and looking around seeing which are the possibilities, and little by little this world is more and more interesting for me. I am learning a lot about this world thanks to this site, and also from the answers to my question I posted last week in the New visitors center.

I will go to Frock me next month to know more. You will be there?

Thanks to all, keep in touch.

Vanesa

SunneDlite is my name and vintage style is my game. Oh that's sick, throw me out right now! I've applied for VFG as an Online Trading Member and hope to be accepted, I thought I had sworn off vintage for good awhile back after I parted with my last velvet SAKS FIFTH AVENUE beret...
... and then a neighbor opened her closet to show me some things she no longer has use for because she heard I knew eBay. It all came rushing back to me ... the jaunty little hats, classy gloves, the slick feel of BilMur Nylon...pure virgin Vogue Couterier uncut patterns... I gave in and now am happily researching, labels stains, and genre to my hearts content and now I found a support group.. well I am here to offer my services as an addicted researcher and know I will benfit from yours.
Oh I am currently on eBay as DeCoDiVaS Vintage & Emphera .:hiya:

Hello from newcomer

Hello to you all.
I found this forum just a few weeks ago, and I'm really impressed by all your expertice! Great!:wow22:
I have been listening and learning for a while, and shortly I will dare asking some questions too. :embaressed:
I don't know much about vintage clothing, but I have always shopped a lot of second hand stuff – clothes also. I can't resist when I come across something nice – even when it's the wrong colour/size/style for myself or my home. I pick things up up at the local charity shop, fleamarkets etc. and as my house seems to become smaller all the time – can't seem to find anywhere to put anything anymore, I'm considering that maybe I should try to sell some to instead of just buying.
And by the way, I'm danish and live in the countryside.

just wanted to drop in and officially introduce myself- hi all! i've been checking vfg for awhile now, but never posted in the forums until last night, so now that you guys are bookmarked, i'll never leave... you have been warned lol :)

i've been unofficially collecting since i was in high school and my mom took me on my first trip from teensy-tiny town in ohio to toronto, ont, where i discovered this crazy thing called "vintage clothes"... up until then, according to the the sub-sub-suburbia-but-not-quite-rural culture that i grew up in, there was no such thing as "vintage", but "bums are the only people who wear other people's used clothes".

i picked up things here and there over the next five to ten years (poor college student = thrift-tastic shopper) but didn't start to "seriously" collect until a few years ago. i don't have a particular era that i zone in on, but am drawn to the teens and early 20's, which of couse isn't exactly easy to get ones hands on, so i just grab whatever catches my eye.

that's about all, pleasure to meet you all, and look forward to chatting and getting to know everyone!

Greetings roque (!) Where do you live now? The only place I ever find 20's clothes and earlier is auctions or private sales.

I got hooked on thrift stores when my mother took me to the Red Cross store to find a dress for eighth grade graduation. it was really pretty! And so the seed was planted.

Hello, My name is Sandy and I am an antiques and collectibles dealer online since 2002.
I had seperated my vintage clothing items from my general items as foofoovintage but it didn't work out so now I have everything back together.
I love to see all the eye candy everyone has.
Here recently to see if I can figure out squidoo from the chatter here by chance and find the newer places people have moved their vintage clothing stores to.

Hi - Newbie here from Woodbridge, Ontario Canada. My name is Lisa, 41, recently separated from my husband with 2 sons. Always been a lover of fashion and handbags and believe it or not just stumbled across Vintage - I swear sometimes I have lived under a rock.

Not sure if many of you are from Canada or the Ontario area, but I guess my main question is what is the best way to find local vintage clothing in my area? Do you shop at antique places as I am sure these would be very expensive or do you go to places like Goodwill or Salvation army. Pardon my ignorance as I said new and just came across this wonderful world of Vintage. I guess my passion right now seems to be 70's and 80's. But I am reading lots and discovering many interesting facts.

Any info you can give is appreciated.

Hi Lisa :hiya:

Welcome! We have many members from Canada. I am sure some of them will be along shortly.

I think all the sources you mentioned are possibilities. Its according to how much time and effort you want to put into it.

Hi Lisa - I'm in northern Vermont. I have the best luck at the smaller thrifts - church or hospital types. I've also had good luck at auctions. I'm sure it's different everywhere. We have spring and fall rummage sales and they are always great fun. I've never found much at lawn sales and we don't have estate sales in Vermont - perhaps this would be something for you. Also search "lot" on eBay - you might find something. Good luck with your new life. Amanda

Hi Lisa,

I'm from neighboring Quebec...but have lived in the Montreal area for most of my life. Once you are hooked on vintage, you just basically have to keep your eyes open all the time, as you just never can tell when or where a goodie may come up.

If you have estate or moving sales or local auctions in your area those are good places to try. Some thrifts can definitely be good sources as well, it really depends on the area and if you are persistent.

Nice to see you hear!

Hi there, I've just registered so it's time to introduce myself. I've just started my vintage journey after being inspired by reading the book "It's Vintage, Darling" (which I reviewed on my website if anyone's interested at http://www.chic-street.com).

So my collection stands at a grand one piece although I have about 5 Ebay snipes waiting to happen...

I know I can learn lots here and I'm looking forward to expanding my wardrobe :-)

Thanks for that! As you can see, I've only just started getting into vintage. I expect I'll be writing lots about it soon...

Hello all! Loooove the VFG site, and find myself referring endlessly to the label resource, and here lately the forums. They're so immensely helpful, I can't thank you all enough for sharing you knowledge.

I've been buying & selling on ebay several months now, but have been a vintage junkie since I was little, just didn't realize it.LOL That's whatcha get when you let a little country girl play dress up in closets full of couture/furs/costume jewelry etc. every weekend. I've amassed a ridiculous amount of vintage stuff, from the late 1800's onward, some inherited, some picked up @ thrifts & antique & junk stores of all places, (ebay too, it's kinda addictive):singing:and have been trying to slowly let go of some of it, as I find new pieces. Now, if I could stop finding gotta have items on ebay, I'd be in great shape! Anyway, I was looking for a label, and thought I'd register & say hi, since I'm forever looking up something here!

Best regards,
Holly
