Clearing our Grandmother's vintage/antique hoard!

There are a lot of them about! Sometimes the settings are silver with semi precious stones.
Scottish kilt claw pin, some of these can fetch a fair amount.
Good to know! We have several but don't think any are particularly valuable, mostly just terrifying.

Today we're working through some of the remaining dresses two are mysteries, the red has no labels, is incredibly heavy and appears hand embroidered. The black has a hand written label, and the blue is just a fab silk number I like

Just cleaned up this nice (crocodile, has the hairs?) Bag, looks like it used to have a strap or handle. Any thoughts on period? Its very nice quality, metal framed and suede/napped leather line but has no markings of any sort to help! The zip says "aero"

It was in with another bag that also has an Aero zip, stamped Elbief (spotted some threads on this) but that one is leather tooled to look like skin, so I don't know if it's a coincidence or perhaps both are made by Elbief

I love the headdress/tiara. My guess is it is a bridal head piece, as the little wax (or imitation wax) blossoms were so very popular for brides for over 100 years. Collectors, as well as new brides today still look for these for their weddings or to display so it is a lovely find.

Thank you Barbara, I've had a look at similar items and I think you're right, the little loops could also be used to hang a veil or pinned into the hair to secure it :)
I'm just headed off to the hoard for the weekend so hopefully will have some fun finds to share after. Anyone have any ideas what these two rhinestone items might be? The long one is I think marcesite but it's riveted in to a soft metal shape, possibly copper or brass. No pin but I'm thinking probably a brooch front? The other one has four little loops and I think the edge metal has (low) silver content as it was tarnished and cleaned up a bit will polish. Not imagining either is worth anything but would love any ideas as to why or when they might have been made!

Looks 1950s or thereabouts to me. It's a really lovely bag (I love a matching coin purse), but I think the loss of the handle probably devalues it significantly.

IIRC Elbief made the frames, rather than the bags? It's awhile since I've looked into it though...

Oh, according to, umm, me :hysterical: Elbief, did make bags as well at some point

But I think your croc bag frame would be stamped if made by Elbief - the stamp may be tiny though. Agree it looks like croc btw

The other bag could be alligator, is there a reason you are sure it's tooled leather?

It could be gator I just assumed it wasn't for some reason

Today's haul is this entire crate of jewellery, weighs about 20kg

The small metal pieces are decorative trim pieces that would have been sewn onto a garment or hat.
Edwardian through 1930s.
So many fun and unusual items.

I would love to be there sorting with you and finding surprises in odd places.
I'd gladly accept the help! Its good fun but a lot. Just found a Hattie Carnegie costume necklace though which is fun
