Introduction

Hi everyone. I am Elaina. I have loved vintage ever since I walked into my first vintage store during college. That was 1985. I have had a store since. I am now buying and selling at flea markets. I love the personal interaction though I know everyone else is selling online. I have built my ebay rating up to 14 since I have been buying, so maybe I will try to sell there. I wish I could go to Sturbridge and Brimfield but I don't have the funds. When my antique dealer friend sells one of his houses he said he would take me. Even though the last time we went to Brimfield I sold more than he did and he was a little miffed. It was the biggest deal I ever had. I had run a little ad on a placemat at a dive of a diner and would you believe a man answered it who had a garage full of 60's menswear dead-stock. And a costumer from L.A. bought all the suits. Who else has stories like these?

Hi Elaina!

WELCOME!!! It's nice to have you here.

(if you ever get lost just click on "today's posts" and that will bring you back to the latest).

That's a great story....i really believe in a little marketing/publicity goes a long way. Hope you get to Brimfield just like you want to next time. we have several members who i know go.

Chris

As promised I have taken loads of photos of my finds on my first vintage hunting sessions. Dont know how I did, but really just picking up things to get a feel for it.
So how did I do please?
But firstly, how do I put my pics onto this post..??? AAAAAH

Yes. You can use a hosting service like photobucket, inkfrog, and there are others to host photos. you will get a convenient url for each one and then can paste it into the messages very easily.

I am really really bad at dating hats!

Does it have any type of label? size? store or maker? Just getting all the facts before the hat experts come along :)

Hit "post reply" directly under the previous message instead of the "quick reply".

you will see options to change text size, etc. there is also a littel button for a picture. hit in and fill in the url

i am probably the last person to be answering this (rubbish with hats!) but the first one looks 1950's to me. same label as this one i posted last week..

very smart!! :clapping:

the kangol one looks modernish, maybe 1980's or 90's even? the style is older but the trouble with kangol is aside from the flat caps etc. and trendy bags they were marketing in the mid 90's i would hazard a guess that many of their styles have remained unchanged for years and years, as 'more mature' ladies tend to favour them (and don't like change, one assumes). that's just my hypothesis, as chris said i would wait 'til the real hat experts chime in before coming to any conclusions.

i wonder what will happen if you wear it in the rain? would it shrink to your head and get stuck? good of them to warn you!

Oh and as far as the date...I believe from the lable style and the fact that it is 100% polyester that the hat is newer and I would not call it vintage.

But that is just my opinion.

what about the first hat, the black one.? anyone got any more ideads on that please.?
I also picked up this dress, very lairy, bright pink with big collars and tiny gems sewn around edging (looks nicer actually than the photo) its by carnegie
