Ok I have this wonderfully constructed dress. I’ve never seen a sportswear specific dress. But I’m stumped on the fabric. slightly slubbed exterior but interior (not lined) is silky smooth. I burned a fiber and it did not ash. Becasue the fabric is so different on the underside, I’m wondering if...
Hello everyone,
Yesterday I scored an Ossie Clark "Judy" trouser set. In the wild! However, it was probably in the thrift store because someone washed it and shrunk it. It smells like laundry detergent. As it is, it has a 24' waist. Have any of you successfully stretched out loose weave "moss...
Hello everyone!
Hope everyone is well, healthy and happy.
I have a coat I believe to be 1930s. It has this label. I cannot find another example of this label anywhere. Has anyone else seen this label. The coat is going to the dry cleaner (crossing fingers), but thought I would put the label...
hello everyone! I haven’t been here in a while but I have know you all can help. Does anyone have any documentation that proves that these half circle bamboo bags are from japan and their era? I’m working on a project. As far as I know they are Japanese and from as early as the 1940s but I...
So I have this piece that is made of beautiful silky cording. Perhaps it's nylon. It's looong and intricate. And has these very old glass bead embellishments. Did someone get crafty and make this recently?
So I purchased this little cutie just for the fabric because she is super tiny. I mean Juniors size and I imagine someone washed it because it's teeny. At this point I will only be able to sell for inspiration or fabric but if I can stretch it out a couple inches I'd be sooooo happy.
Has anyone...
Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I did! Still eating leftovers. haha!
I wanted to let you know about this handy dandy calendar I created for vintage sellers. I get so many emails about how to be more efficient with social media. It's time consuming I know. So I created...
So I have this dress I laundered in cold water. It is cut like a 1940s dress but is made of a synthetic fabric that I thought for sure was nylon tricot so thought it was a vintage repro. Well I washed it and I think it shrunk! it does not feel like crepe at all, so I ruled that out and washed...

I just got back from a very inspiring blogger conference called BlogHer. I am thinking, seriously this time, about offering some vintage specific social media and blogging workshops.
I was wondering if anyone would like to participate in this very quick (3 minutes or less) survey to get a...
I, some would say foolishly, purchased a hand embroidered 1920s cotton day dress or tunic. It had pit and unidentified stains all over. Don't ask me why I bought it. I just wanted to rescue it. I remembered someone on the board discussing Folex. I had already tried pretreating and washing with...
I was feeling pretty confident that this bracelet I picked up today was art deco/machine age era due to the clasp and the quality of the metal. But now I am second guessing myself. Jewelry experts? What say you?
Hi everyone.
I have a 3 piece ensemble - mink trimmed coat, top and skirt - covered entirely in ribbon. It's lined in silk (i think) chiffon and it is FILTHY. I know the dry cleaner won't do much good. I didn't invest too much so I am willing to be a bit more risky but I have no idea where to...
Hi everyone!
My blog is celebrating 5 years of being on the web.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share with you the interview I did with Carol Beadle, the costume designer for the film The Runaways. It's the first time I looked at 1970s clothes and loved every single piece.

Hi everyone.
sorry for being MIA. I have a whole bunch of projects in the works. but I thought I'd share a video interview I did with Doris Raymond of The Way We Wore. I met her at the vintage fashion panel during LAFW.
Can you tell what a fan girl I am?

I thought I had read that some of you were not happy with the collapsible garment racks from Bed Bath and Beyond. Can you tell me why? Are they different from the kind you buy from retail supply stores?
Hi everyone.
I've been a bit MIA lately. But I wanted to let you all now that I went to the Vintage Expo last week and got to meet Kristine of Elsewhere and Janet from Woodland Farms.
Mary from Zuburbia and I met up and had a great time. Full report on my blog this Monday.
A great article on vintage in a small paper - Elsewhere mentioned:

Hooray Melody! Your publisher is working the press!! http://www.teenvogue.com/beauty/blogs/beauty/2009/10/another-cute-fashion-book-the-little-guide-to-vintage-shopping.html
I always feel very confident about washing cotton dresses in the machine. Gentle cycle, gentle detergent (Ivory Snow, Woolite, etc.) and bam! Done.
Well, I washed a textured cotton dress today and it faded considerably. AND, I think I noticed a small tear in the skirt where the hem came...
Don\'t forget to record Oprah tomorrow!
Oprah Goes Back In Time is the title of the episode. Our Ang's dress she sold to Mrs. jones will make its appearance!
My DVR is ready!
One of my pickers threw in some free very soiled dresses and one has mold on it. Visible mold. I want to try to rescue it. I was thinking a nice long soak in Borax. What do you think?
it's on A&E. It's a show all about hoarders and helping them first clean out their houses and then trying to help them change behaviors. I turned to my husband and shouted "I am NOT a hoarder!" :jawdrop:
