Shucks, thanks - such a sweet welcome! :)

Looking forward to seeing you all around the board too!

Jen

Edited to add: Bonnie! You're not just a fellow Canadian, you're a fellow Calgarian! I've watched your ebay store for ages and I think we've emailed once or twice too :) That's so awesome!

Hi everyone!

I"m so glad to get registered and start checking out all the useful info you experts are kind enough to share! I've been in the vintage clothing business since 1993, first managing a store in the Chicago area, then opeing my own shop in 1997 (Viva Vintage in Evanston, IL), and now moving on to online selling with my (under construction!) website, vivavintageclothing.com. I wish I had discovered your wonderful site back when my B and M store was getting started, I had so many questions and had no idea the VFG existed. I look forward to absorbing new vintage knowledge, and sharing any useful tidbits from my own experience in the biz. Wish me good luck with the new site--I'm sure you all know how scary, exciting, and exhausting starting a new or revamped business can be!

Thanks for being here!
Amy

Hi!!

Hi Everyone. I was just informed of this lovely site by my friends over at Vintage Indie. I have a shop, as well as selling online of great vintage finds. I also have a side project in addition to Magpie, called Oh Sweet Josephine. I reconstruct vintage handbags and jewelry. I keep myself rather busy! I look forward to being in touch with all of you!

Hi everyone! I'm a collector and aspiring seller (primarily brick-and-mortar). I've found that higher-end items tend to do better online, so I'll be supplementing my shop with that.

Hello!

I finally found this board! Thank goodness!

I have been into vintage since I can remember.

I started seriously collecting for a shop in the early 90's. I had a space in an antique mall, always meaning to do something online. I finally started posting on ebay recently.

My favourite periods are the 40's and 50's. Probably because it's what fits me best.

I haven't come across much couture. I absolutely LOVE ladies suit jackets of the 50's, I have a lot! And black rayon dresses.

I have a habit of picking up some of the saddest, most neglected, mistreated articles of clothing that come my way! I feel sorry for them!!

I am a picture framer by day, dividing my time between looking after my dad who is in early stages of Alzheimer's, and trying to supplement my income from ebay sales. It's as difficult as I imagined!!

And welcome to Lorrel Mae! Is that your daytime walk-around name? It just rolls off the tongue.

That is a pretty name. Sounds like an old name. I feel for you. I just had my brother diagnosed with this awful disease. Trying to find help for him. I wish you the best.

I\'m new and want to introduce myself, but . . .

I want to introduce myself, but since I'm not sure how these forums work, I didn't know whther to post reply, or post new, so I posted reply.

Gloria Reibin here. I was searching Vintage Clothing because I have some, which I really like, but decided, in a financial pinch to sell some, so I joined this with the intention of finding out more about what my clothing is worth. I won't ask that question here, but that's my reasons.]

I live in California with my husband at his mother's home. We are care-givers for her as she has health challenges. We celebrated her 91st birthday in June.

I also do business via the Internet, mostly in Financial Education, but also have a few other things that are fun to do.

Looking forward to reading the posts and finding out more about Vintage clothing.

Sorry for the long delay in replying, just as I think all has calmed down for a bit (I've had a really bad past 8 months) my husband lost his job when it went into receivership and we have had no income at all for almost 3 months, so I have been rather stressed to say the least, we couldn't even claim benefits, but, he has a job now, so all is well for the moment and I can start focusing on other aspects of my life now......like ebay and selling the ridiculous amount of vinatge clothing I have!

Just a line to introduce myself, although I have only just registered with VGA I have looked at the site many times in the past, it is truly wonderful and a geat help to all. The label section is fantastic. Thank you to those who keep the site up and running.

My speciality is scarves, vintage and others also depending on what comes my way. I also like vintage jewelry and powder compacts. My favourite fashion era is the 1960s and Art Deco periods.

My website addres is http://www.scarfcollector.myby.co.uk

I am not a dealer but merely a collector, finding space to hoard it all is a problem!

Regards......Brenda
