Hi Rms, sounds like you've had an amazing find, I did a similar house clearance not long ago, though I couldn't actually take all of it, I had a car load! The best you can do is do as much research yourself first on the internet, through library books etc and then bring your findings to the Forum. Do a search to see if anybody had the same queries before you (with several different key words or phrases, we all type things differently) and if you're still in need of help, post a thread in the Q&A with clear pictures of the garment and any labels and your thoughts and questions.
kind regards, Melanie.

Evening ladies and gents and how are we all on this lovely June evening? I just joined and thought I'd come and say 'hi'. I've always loved the the 1950s retro look - its so glam and feminine so I thought what the hay why don't I try this style out for myself... so I have and there is no looking back! I try new hair styles and love the classy, feminine clothes - they always make you feel good and confident! I then started to wonder if there was a forum and bingo there is! So I look forward to hearing from you peeps.....!

Hi,

My name is Kathrin, and I would like to introduce myself as a girl inspired by beauty and nature.
I hope this site will help me on my journey to my designs, art and clothes.

I'm really looking forward to "hanging out" here!

/Kathrin

It's been a while since I've said "hi" to all our new Forum users. Welcome!

We all love vintage and are happy to share our knowledge when we can. Melanine mentioned that it really helps if you post photos with your questions. In addition to the LR for labels, we have a lot of information on our website under VFG Resources to help you date your finds, or even tell if they are vintage. Please take a little time to go through them - and then come back and share your finds or ask questions about them!

Hello!

I came across your site while doing some internet research. I have an Adrian Original lace hat from the early 1940's. What is the best way to sell this? Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

Heidi

Heidi,

Welcome to the VFG. If you wish to contact me via the private message system here on the forums, I can assist or advise you, as hats are my specialty and I have been researching them for decades. Of course, we would all love to see it...hint hint. I will contact you as well. Best, B

Hello!

I stumbled upon this wonderful site a few weeks ago and have been consulting the resources, forums and guides ever since. I have been an avid lover / collector of vintage clothing and antiques since childhood. I have no store or professional affiliations (or at least not yet!) -- just a personal love! I am trying to date several dresses I have in my collection and would love to post the questions in the forums section (I have read over the dating guides and label resources, but I'm still stumped!). I'm very much looking forward to "meeting" others here :)

Thank you,
Katie

Welcome, Katie,

We love looking and talking about vintage. If you can post pictures of your items on the Forum, we'll try our best to help you date your dresses. There is a guide to posting photos at the top of this Forum - the New Visistor Forum, and some guidelines of what to show us in order for us to help!

Hello everyone
So glad to be a member of this very usefull and informative site and to see so many people with the same interests as myself

Hi everyone, what a fantastic site this is! My name is Janine and I buy from local auction houses and sell on the internet
I live in the UK and am mostly into buying and selling (and keeping a lot of the time ) vintage costume jewellery.
I have learned quite a bit about vintage jewellery since I bought a few boxes from our local auction house then done a little research on the internet, I find it fascinating, the different clasps, metals, stones. settings etc used over the years, and I'm learning more all the time, and loving it. It deffinately pays to know a little something about what you're planning to sell!
I can't wait to spend some hours "mooching" around here, I'm sure it's going to be thrilling - so looking forward to speaking to like minded sellers and collectors
:hiya:
