Hi
I recently started about two years ago a vintage fur collection. I can identify most of the furs with the exception of 3 of them. This one has me stumped. I purchased this one at a second hand store locally. But it does not have any tags on it to narrow my search further. At first feel I...
hi! I recently inherited my aunt's old fur coat that was purchased back in the 70s. At the time my uncle paid $2,800. Unfortunately he does not remember. He thinks it's mink. I attached a couple photos to show you of it hanging on a metal hanger it is very light. Reading the forums I'm thinking...
Hi, I am new to this forum and have learned so much in just the short time I have discovered it. I love vintage furs and have been fairly successful identifying various types on my own through research here and online, but this one really stumped me. I hate when that happens. :duh2: I would...
Hello!
I purchased this coat from a resale shop today and I really don't know anything about it. I know zero about vintage fashion and furs so any help or information is appreciated! Also, me assuming it's mink is a guess.
Thanks! :)
Hi. I was wondering if you all could help me with identification of this fur. Just under the lining it reads "Windsor Fur Dyers New York " . Is this dyed muskrat?
Thanks
Hello everyone! I just got this vintage fur hand muff yesterday and I think it's from the 40's but not 100% sure. Can someone help me confirm on the dating? I've been looking around trying to figure out what kind of fur this is and I can't seem to get it. The fur is about 3/4" to 1" in length...
Hello, newbie here. I recently purchased this coat, believed to be Persian Lamb. However, after doing some research I'm really more confused than anything about it. First this is a very heavy coat (6 lbs.), extremely warm and in excellent condition. It appears to have been custom made for the...
Hi. I just picked up this Birger Christensen coat. After reading through the site, I think it might be broadtail but need your expertise to confirm. It is super duper soft. I've had similar furs in black before but they were always quite coarse. Also, any idea of the age.
Thank you in...
Hello all,
I recently found a Mr John fur hat, but even after looking at the VFG fur guides, am still wondering if I'm on track with identifying the fur type? It feels so soft and fine, with a fluffy undercoat, so I'm leaning towards rabbit. Can anyone tell from my photos if I'm correct? Any...
I received this coat in a Maximilian at Bloomingdales garment bag, but the tag was possibly removed on the inside of the coat where the previous owners name is now stitched or there never was a tag. I confirmed it is real fur, and the previous owner was a millionaire so I doubt she cheeped out on
Hello,
I have a vintage dress suit with the label Nathan Strong, so its a high end item. The problem is I don't know what type of fur surrounds the collar. It's brown, short, very dense and if you look at the bottom of the fur it's whitish. Can anyone help me? Thank you so much!
Sincerely,
Joanne
Hi! My mother picked up this fur cape and I'm trying to figure out what it might be. The guard hairs seem particularly long to me relative to the undercoat, which seems denser and fluffier than I'm used to seeing on mink, if that makes sense. Does anyone have any idea what type of fur it is...
Hi there! I've been researching fur coats trying to figure out what this piece is, but I've come across more questions than answers.
This was one of my grandma's fur coats. My mom said it was purchased in 1989 and is "black sable mink". I told her that sable and mink are both types of fur, and...
Hello,
I’m new to this forum and I would greatly appreciate any help on identifying this vintage fur coat. I’ve been told that it is Leopard or Jaguar, however, the markings do not resemble what I typically associate with leopard or jaguar coats.
Any information would be greatly appreciated...
Hi everyone,
I have checked the Fur Resource guide, but I still can't seem to figure this one out. I suppose because so many furs are dyed to look like sable, the colour doesn't help me! It's so so very soft!
Thanks!!
can anyone tell me anything about this coat please? there is no makers label, just 2 emboided letters "D J" as in the photo, they are in the bottom right hand side (if you were wearing the coat) what its made of, era etc. thanks in advance.
I bought this coat recently second hand and was completely stuck to what fur it is as I cannot identify to other images online. It is quite soft and the fur is long. The tag has come of so the designer is unidentifiable and I am also unsure of the era.
Can some one please help me identify the age, make and type of fur of this coat I bought today from a Salvation Army Store in New Zealand. It is definitely vintage, has no label inside except on the inside pocket it has a label that reads D1662.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
I am a new fur buyer, but I need help in determining the fur types to a stole (Truesdell) and a jacket (no label). Both materials are very soft, and the seller believed it to be mink. But after reading about Muskrat fur vs. Mink fur vs. Sable fur, I need help in confirming the fur type. Thanks
Hi,
I cannot pin down the type of fur on this hat. Driving me nuts! I've been over the resource page 3 times. And perused the internet over 2 days. Ugh. I need some help.
The fur is very lightweight. Light brown almost reddish very soft downy under coat. Darker brown shiny guard hairs. The...
Hi everyone!
I recently picked up this beautiful coat with a fur collar and have been trying to identify what type of fur it is - maybe fox? The undercoat is very fluffy and striated and the long wispy strands are black/dark brown to white. Also, there is a Henri Bendel tag! Maybe 1940-50s? But...
Jet black short nap of 1/2 inch or so on this vintage coat.
Fox label as shown from California.
Any help with the fur greatly appreciated in advance. Very shiny and very soft.
It also has an elastic loop to go around the top button.
In the middle at the waist there is an elastic loop on...
I've read 5 guides and learned the lingo and I still can't figure it out. I know nothing about fur other than it is soft.
Can someone helps with these?
1 is really soft
2 is a little stiffer
3 is really soft with seams in the pelt, which I find odd because it's just a small collar.
I do...
I almost fell over when I found this at my local salvation army (for $9.99:)) I looked through the label resource, and am feeling good about it dating to the early 60's, but would like to be certain. Also, I think the collar is sheared beaver (as it feels very much like a beaver coat I own) but...
hi Everyone,
The lining has "Paris" and "Schiaparelli" insignia on it but no other label other than the store one....wondering if this is rabbit or dyed beaver? thinking 1960s....it's the closest match in the label resource?
Thanks for any input.
Lauren
